Lilly Moore honored as Kentucky Farm Bureau Insurance's 2020 Rookie of the Year

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (Feb. 8, 2021) – Lilly Moore, an agent at the Butler County agency of Kentucky Farm Bureau Insurance, has been named 2020 Rookie of the Year for the largest property and casualty insurance company domiciled in the state. The award was presented during the company’s 66th annual sales conference, held virtually on Feb. 8.

The Rookie of the Year award recognizes a first-year insurance agent’s excellence in overall sales production, satisfactory loss-ratio, service to policyholders and an affirmative attitude.

Kentucky State Police Pursuit Leads to the Recovery of a Stolen Vehicle

Bowling Green, KY. (February 6, 2021) – On February 5th, 2021, a Kentucky State Police Post 3 Trooper observed a vehicle traveling south on US 231 in Butler County that matched the description of a stolen vehicle report received earlier.  The operator of the vehicle was identified as 33 year-old Nathan W. Constant of Paducah, who had active felony warrants.  Upon the Trooper activating his emergency equipment the vehicle fled toward Warren County.  The vehicle stopped momentarily and two passengers exited Constant's vehicle before he again started to flee .

The Butler County Fiscal Court met Monday, January 29, for their regular scheduled bi-monthly meeting at the Butler County Courthouse. All magistrates were in attendance.

Death penalty sought in triple homicide

Joseph Carey

 Joseph Carey, 32 of Bowling Green, appeared in Butler County District Court on Tuesday for a preliminary hearing for the murder of his wife Angela Carey and her parents Charles "Chuck" and Lupe McGranahan, all of Morgantown. The three were shot to death at their home on Lonnie Snodgrass Road on January 19.

Alecia Johnson named Associate Director of Aging Services

BOWLING GREEN, KY - January 28, 2021 - BRADD’s Executive Director has announced today that effective Monday, February 1, 2021, Alecia Johnson, Assistant Aging Director at BRADD, will be named Associate Director of Aging Services.  This news comes after the Barren River Area Development District (BRADD) Board of Directors appointed Michelle Hines (of Auburn) to the position of BRADD Deputy Director last month creating the vacancy.  Johnson, who has been at BRADD since 2008, brings substantial experience within the federally designated Area Agency on Aging and Independent Living programs.

Butler County Judge Executive Tim Flener and Morgantown Mayor Billy J. Phelps assisted the Morgantown Butler County Chamber of Commerce in cutting the ribbon to officially open the new Full Family & Urgent Care in Morgantown. It is located at 1116 S. Main Street in Rose Plaza.

Take the Speed Test

Butler County Judge-Executive Tim Flener is encouraging Butler Countians to take the Kentucky Broadband Speed Test. The project will gather data from Kentuckians to expand internet home access for distance learning, telework, and telehealth. Kentuckians can take the free, anonymous speed test from Jan. 19 to Feb. 18 at https://educationcabinet.ky.gov/Initiatives/Pages/KBI.aspx
