Alecia Johnson named Associate Director of Aging Services

BOWLING GREEN, KY - January 28, 2021 - BRADD’s Executive Director has announced today that effective Monday, February 1, 2021, Alecia Johnson, Assistant Aging Director at BRADD, will be named Associate Director of Aging Services.  This news comes after the Barren River Area Development District (BRADD) Board of Directors appointed Michelle Hines (of Auburn) to the position of BRADD Deputy Director last month creating the vacancy.  Johnson, who has been at BRADD since 2008, brings substantial experience within the federally designated Area Agency on Aging and Independent Living programs.

Johnson (of Morgantown) is the natural fit to oversee the BRADD’s Aging Services division as she has been working closely with all aspects of one of BRADD’s largest divisions since her appointment to Assistant Aging Director in 2018.

BRADD’s board chairman, Steve Thurmond, said, “Once again by the elevation of Alecia Johnson to Associate Director of Aging we have shown the quality of the employees at BRADD.  For the second time recently we filled a position from within, with a tremendously qualified person. Alecia has the experience, knowledge and respect of fellow associates to be highly successful in her new role.”  BRADD’s Finance Director Amy Caroll added, “Alecia’s experience and leadership within the Aging Department will enable her to continue the outstanding work that the Aging Department provides to BRADD communities.”

Eric Sexton, BRADD’s Executive Director, further stated, “Alecia has proven herself to be a dedicated, loyal team member and possesses many natural leadership qualities that will benefit our programs.”  Sexton further described the BRADDs mission to have succession planning in place across the agency’s key roles. Both Hines and Johnson will work together closely in transitional matters in the coming months.

Following BRADD protocol, an internal posting for the position was assigned and a committee, including the board chairman, was formed to review applications before making this personnel action.

Johnson had this to say about her upcoming transition, “It is with great enthusiasm that I accept the position of Associate Director of Aging Services at BRADD.  I am looking forward to applying my knowledge and experience that I have gained while working at this agency over the last 13 years to continue to uphold the high quality of work that is performed here.”

BRADD is the regional economic development agency and federally designated Area Agency on Aging and Independent Living, serving ten counties in Southcentral Kentucky since 1968.
