Kentucky General Assembly’s 2022 session opens with words of appreciation

FRANKFORT— As the 2022 legislative session began to a churn this week, the Kentucky General Assembly still found quiet moments to remember victims of the deadly tornadoes in Western Kentucky – and to show gratitude to those helping in the recovery.

The House and Senate convened the 60-day regular session on Tuesday, and the mood in both chambers turned solemn as lawmakers described the devastation and offered messages of unity and thanks, especially to first responders and those who have donated supplies.

UPDATE: BC Schools switch to NTI for Thursday & Friday

STORY UPDATE:  Due to snowfall on Thursday and worsening road conditions, Butler County Schools will remain on NTI (non-traditional instruction) on Friday, January 7.  There will be NO in-person classes on Friday.  

 

Butler County Schools will not have in-person classes tomorrow, Thursday, January 6, due to the threat of incoming weather. A Winter Weather Advisory was issued today (Wednesday) for Butler and several surrounding counties in south-central Kentucky. According to Butler County school officials, Thursday will be used as a non-traditional instruction day (NTI).

Mayor Billy Phelps Appointed to Serve on National League of Cities’ Committee

Morgantown KY— January 5, 2022 — Mayor Billy Phelps of Morgantown has been appointed to the National League of Cities (NLC) 2022 Public Safety and Crime Prevention (PSCP) Federal Advocacy Committee. Mayor Phelps was elected to a one-year term and will provide strategic direction and guidance for NLC’s federal advocacy agenda and policy priorities. The appointment was announced by NLC President Mayor Vince Williams of Union City, Georgia.

Possible Winter Weather System to hit area Thursday

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (Jan. 4, 2022) –  Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) District 3 crews are ramping up anti-icing operations beginning today in advance of a possible winter weather system moving into the area on Thursday. Weather models are constantly changing so accumulation totals are not known. The weather models are shaping up showing hazardous driving conditions could be in play beginning Thursday.
