Bridges Hardin, 14, of Shelby County holds a chunky smallmouth bass caught last week from Elkhorn Creek in Franklin County. Stream fishing for smallmouth bass offers many things, in addition to catching fish, to keep a young angler’s attention. These experiences help hook young anglers into a lifetime of fishing.

BCHS Softball Bears - 12th District Runner-Up 2017

After having to postpone the 12th District Softball Tournament for two days due to rain, the event was held all in one day last week with Butler County coming from behind to defeat Trinity 12-6 before falling to Grayson County 3-0 in the championship game.  The tournament was played Friday, May 2

On May 11, 2017, Oak Ridge Christian Academy’s Cory Mason signed his letter of intent to Kentucky Christian University to continue his basketball career.

On Saturday May 13th, the Bears travelled to Green County to compete in the Class A Region 2 meet. The Bears’ season has been a great one to this point with success on the track and in the field.

Geoff Roberts, conservation educator at Kentucky Fish and Wildlife’s Salato Wildlife Education Center, holds a largemouth bass caught early Monday morning from Barren River Lake. Barren River Lake State Resort Park, along with Lake Barkley State Resort Park, offer excellent accommodations for a weekend of largemouth bass fishing on two of the best lakes for the species in Kentucky.

FRANKFORT, Ky. (May 11, 2017) – The months of May and June make for two of the best for catching largemouth bass. The weather is warm, but not too hot, and the largemouth bass feed heavily as warmer water temperatures increase their desire to eat.
