Butler County Cross Country 2019

The Butler County Cross Country team has been running strong during this 2019 season.  Runners have traveled to the Twilight Run at Warren East, the Gatorland Run at Greenwood, the SKY Conference in Bowling Green and the Fast Cats Classic in Owensboro.

 

At the Twilight Run, the boys’ varsity was led by Parker Smith with a 5k time of 18:52 followed by Bowen Kirby (20:19), Tug Maxfield (21:03), Conner Glass (21:22-a season PR), Jacob Camp (21:37), Case Hooten (23:13), Marvin Brown (25:06), Dawson Deel (26:08) and Spencer Cohron (33.44).  Girls’ varsity was led by Autumn Jenkins with a 5k time of 22:57 followed by Briley Webster (24:44—a season PR), Maricela Rafeal Vargas (25:26), Hannah Winchel (33:44 and Kathy Lucas-Gomez (39:27).  Also, Emma Winchel was the 2nd place elementary girls finisher and Lily Glass was the 8th place finisher; both girls train with the varsity team.

 

At the Gatorland Run, Autumn Jenkins led the girls’ varsity with a time of 22:20.  She was followed by Maricella Rafeal Vargas (25:05), Hannah Winchel (29:15) and Kathy Lucas-Gomez (39:00).  Briley Webster completed in the girls 3k with a time of 14:35.  Emma Winchel won 2nd place in the elementary division with a 2k time of 7:29; Lily Glass was 13th with a time of 8:40.  The boys’ 3k was led by Case Hooten (12:53) followed by Marvin Brown (14:53) and James House (15:05).  Boys’ Varsity was led by Bowen Kirby (20:46) followed by Conner Glass (21:37), Jacob Camp (22:33), Dawson Deel (23:53—a personal record), Tug Maxfield (24:25) and Spencer Cohron (35:26).

 

We competed at the SKY Conference Meet before Fall break.  Emma Winchel was the winners of the 2k Elementary race (7:59) with Lily Glass 14th (9:44)  Emma also won elementary girls runner of the year and 6th grader of the year.  Girls’ varsity was led by Autumn Jenkins with a 5k time of 22:18 followed by Maricela Rafeal Vargas (25:57), Briley Webster (26:52), Hannah Winchel (29:01-a season PR), Samantha Henderson (33:10), Ally Brown (35:58) and Kathy Lucas Gomez (38:50-a season PR).  Boys’ varsity was led by Parker Smith with a 5k time of 20:18 followed by Jacob Camp (21:11-a season PR), Case Hooten (21:16-a season PR), Tug Maxfield (21:37), Conner Glass (22:22), Marvin Brown (24:38), Dawson Deel (24:46), James House (29:00) and Spencer Cohron (35:09)

 

On October 5th, BCXC Runners ran in the Fast Cats Classic at Yellow Creek in Owensboro.  Several runners left with season PR’s!!!  Leading the boys’ varsity was Parker Smith with a 5k time of 19:07 which was his first under 20 race since running with a cast for his broken arm.  He was followed by Bowen Kirby who set a season PR with 20:12, Tug Maxfield with a season PR of 20:18, Case Hooten with a season PR of 20:28, Conner Glass with a season PR of 20:28, Jacob Camp with a time of 22:10, Marvin Brown with a season PR of 23:37, Dawson Deel with a time of 24:51 and Spencer Cohron with a season PR of 29:47.  Leading girls’ varsity was Autumn Jenkins with a season PR of 21:38.  She was followed by Briley Webster (26:00), Hannah Winchel (29:56) and Ally Brown (32:59).

 

Our next regular season meet is at Franklin Simpson on October 12 for the Wildcat Wilderness Run; Regional competition is on Saturday, October 26 at the Ephram White Park in Bowling Green.
