Butler County Volleyball

Last week the girls’ volleyball team only played one game, Thursday at Whitesville Trinity.  It was a rough trip for the Lady Bears as they lost all three games, freshman, junior varsity, and varsity, in straight sets.  The freshman team has shown improvement despite the loss.  Nine of the eleven players will have the opportunity to play on the first middle school team Butler County has ever had this coming spring.  This will be a big help to the program for years to come.  The JV team did not fare well against Trinity losing 12-21 and 15-21.  The JV record is now 5-3.  Varsity once again started very slow falling behind early 3-15, but rallied to make the first set respectful, 17-25.  The second set was much closer, however Butler came up a little short, 24-26.  The third set was played evenly for most of the way, until Trinity put together a small run to win 18-25.  Trinity historically has been one of the better teams in our district and region.  The Lady Bears showed that they can play with them.  Next week the girls host Todd Co. on Monday and then travel to Grayson County on Thursday.
