WONDERING ABOUT WONDER

Have you ever had instances where similar thoughts or circumstances keep recurring on a frequent basis? It happens to me on a pretty frequent basis and I take it as a clue that something, or someone, wants me to take pause and pay attention for a bit, it just might be I need to learn something. Just such an occurrence has been popping up lately, enough for me to believe it is something more than just circumstance and that is with the concept of -wonder.

Senator C.B. Embry's Legislative Update

FRANKFORT, Mar. 30 -- Sen. C.B. Embry, R-Morgantown, (bottom right) welcomed a class from North Butler Elementary to the Kentucky State Capitol Building on the last day of the 2017 Session of the Kentucky General Assembly. (Photo: LRC-PI)

It was an honor to serve you and our district in Frankfort this session. Called the “most productive and historic session” in history, I, along with my colleagues in the Senate, were proud to stand with Kentuckians as we passed historic legislation alongside our new House Majority. In November of 2016, citizens from across the Commonwealth gave us a mandate through the electoral process to fundamentally change our state.

Before they were stars is what I’ll call this.  Until 1964, the Who, composed of Roger Daltrey, Pete Townshend and John Entwhistle, were known as the Detours.  They were also known at one point as the High Numbers. When they discovered another band by the name Detours, Townshend’s roommate Richard Barnes suggested they rename to the Who.  Destiny’s Child aka Beyonce and the others, were originally called Girl’s Tyme.  I think the name change definitely served them well.

Tax season is quickly winding down. Most individuals have filed their taxes, but some – for various reasons – have not. I don’t know anyone who likes to pay taxes, but it’s a part of life.

I wish I had said that: Miss Fannie Stoback had a big, red rooster a certified coward and a sneak. To cap that off he was poison mean. He bore watching. He had already blind-sided me once… spurred a slit in my new overalls and cut a nasty gash in my leg.

From then on I carried a good-sized tobacco stick when I went to her house to get milk and butter, usually on Saturdays… an eight year old boy’s chore.

“Belle had a sword?” I asked my daughter, Natalie, after seeing a picture of my granddaughter, Sabria, dressed as Belle in the Bippity Boppity Boutique at Disney World.  I had seen the newest movie version of “Beauty and the Beast,” but I spent much of the movie in the restroom with either Sabria or her younger half-sister, Laney, so I thought maybe I missed something.

“No, Belle didn’t have a sword,” Natalie said, “But Sabria insisted she have one for the picture.”

Jarrod Jacobs: Wrong Attitudes

There are people in this world who are guilty of having wrong attitudes. People’s wrong attitudes then result in wrong actions. God’s people from the beginning have had to contend with wrong attitudes and wrong actions from others. They also contend with the temptation to have these wrong attitudes, themselves. The Bible tells us of some who had wrong attitudes, and as a result, sinned. Let us study the following attitude and learn what God expects of us.

Tulips are one of my favorite flowers. I don’t have any at home, but I sure watch for them to start blooming everywhere so I can capture some of their beauty. The natural sunlight was my friend when I was taking pictures of these last week. Spring has definitely arrived in all its glory!!!

Have a wonderful week!!!

I get excited at even the prospect of starting a new book.  Cracking it open, smelling that new book smell.  The new story I’m about to read and the new characters that will soon invade my brain space, the new journey on which I’m about to embark secures one thing I’ve probably known all my life.  I, Andy Sullivan, am a proud nerd.
