Debby Burden Lanham: View From My Lens

Oh the gorgeous peacock!. How I love taking my country drives and running across peacocks with their tails fanned and standing so bodacious,  in all their glory.  I have done research on peacocks before and remember being somewhat surprised when I read if the peacock was left alone, it was sad and heart broken. So many humans can relate to that. But the good thing about humans, we are NEVER alone. We always have God with us, therefore, we always have a friend.

Have a great week everyone!

Andy Sullivan: Against the Grain

Music videos on television are just about extinct these days.  Sure, MTV, VH1, MTV Classic and CMT all have their morning blocks but they’re only a few hours.  Once upon a time, I put a season pass on those blocks.  However, if you want commercial-free videos, or even classic commercials along with your classic videos, I have some great options!

Patty Craig: A Slice of Time

March 17, St. Patrick’s Day, is not only a day to honor Ireland’s patron saint, but also an opportunity to express Irish American identity. I don’t remember celebrating it as a child; but, when I taught school, it was a day of shamrocks and green or the threat of a pinch. The day brings to mind the many associations we’ve formed about Ireland.

Letter to Editor: 911 Dispatch

My name is Nancy Cardwell, and I am the Office Manager for the Butler County Ambulance Service and have been employed there since March 2005.  At that time the ambulance service and dispatch was under the direction of the Butler County Fiscal Court.  Since its existence, the dispatch center has always been supervised by the supervisor of the ambulance service and was housed in the courthouse.  In 2007 the fiscal court created a taxing district to help subsidize the financial burden of the ambulance service.    So when the ambulance service became its own entity, the dispatch center went wit

Goodie-goodie: This and that; I love this and that:

Do we always know what we are putting on, or into our bodies?

Recently I read the fine print on one of my body products. It contained the following: di-propylene glycol, water, propylene glycol, sodium stearate, PPG-3 myristyl ether, tetra-sodium edta, violet 2, and green 6. Here is what it’s supposed to do: contains odor-fighting “atomic robots” that shoot lasers” at your “stench monsters” and replaces them with fresh, clean, masculine “scent elves”.

Cheryl Hughes: I Want to Wear the Skirt

Our granddaughter, Sabria, packed on a few extra pounds this winter, so some of her fair weather clothes no longer fit the way they should.  She was particularly fond of a pink and white butterfly skirt her mom bought her last year, but when she tried it on, before church last Sunday, it was a bit too snug around her waist.

Senator C.B. Embry's Legislative Update

A flurry of activity stemming from committee meetings and the passage of bills marked a short but intense Week 6 of the Kentucky General Assembly. Although the Senate was only in session from Monday to Wednesday of this week, committee meetings still met during the later part of the week to give final hearings to a few select bills. I am also happy to report that a bill I sponsored, Senate Bill 38 relating to timber theft, has passed both chambers and is ready to be signed by Governor Bevin.

Jarrod Jacobs: A Lack Of Information Or Application?

The Bible is a unique book. While scientifically, geographically, mathematically, archaeologically, astronomically, and historically true, the main focus of the Bible is the redemption of man’s soul (Gen. 3:15; Lk. 19:10). God has given to us “all things that pertain to life and godliness” (II Pet. 1:3). God’s word completely equips us in this life, and this word will judge us one day (II Tim. 3:16-17; Jn. 12:48). His word guides us by pointing out when we are wrong, when we are right, and what to do to stay right! Is there any wonder why the Bible is referred to as “The Book of Books”?

ENOUGH ISN'T ENOUGH: Most of us have heard the expression, “enough is enough,” haven't we? It is said in reference to dealing with a barely tolerable situation for enough time that we get, “fed up,” we reach a saturation level where we can not tolerate even a trifle more, so we are fully ready to walk away.
