Eugene Phelps

Eugene Phelps, 77, of Hartford, passed away, Sunday, October 20, 2013 at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. He was born May 28, 1936 in Ohio County, Kentucky to the late Lonnie Phelps Sr. and Bernice Ward Phelps. He was a member of Longview General Baptist Church where he was a Deacon since 1959. He was a retired coal miner from Peabody Coal Company.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Monnie Taylor Phelps, two daughters, Tammy Jo Phelps and Paula Sue Burton, one son, Allen Eugene Phelps and three sisters, Ann Bullock, Deloris Geary and Louise Decker.

Roger "Pappie" Talbert

Roger "Pappie" Talbert  66,  of Morgantown, Kentucky, passed away Sunday, October 20, 2013 at the Medical Center Hospital in Bowling Green. Mr.  Talbert was born October 26, 1946 in Sugar Creek, WV. to the late Okie and Edua Borrows Talbert.  He was a retired construction worker. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Mr. Talbert is survived by 2 step-sons: Allan Lantz and wife Carie of Morgantown, Dale Lantz of Bryan, Ohio; 1 step-daughter: Chris Wilcox and husband Ken of Angola, In.

Christine Sweatt Farley

Christine Sweatt Farley, 77 of Bowling Green died Thursday, October 17, 2013, at 7:48 pm at The Medical Center in Bowling Green. The Butler County native was born December 10, 1935, a daughter of the late John and Vonia Cain Sweatt. She was a homemaker.

Darrell G. Wilson

Darrell G. Wilson, 77,  of  Provo, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, October 17, 2013 at his residence in Provo. Mr. Wilson was born March 2, 1936 in Butler County, to the late Cecil Wilson and Ruby Pendley Wilson. He was a member of Monticello Baptist Church and Trustee for 46 years, served on the Board of Directors at Farm Bureau, was a 50 year member of Cassia  Lodge #272 F&AM. Mr. Wilson was very active in the Rural Development, an avid fishermen, hunter and a true UK fan.  He was preceded in death by his parents and wife Winifred LaMastus Wilson.

Earl D. "Pappy" Belcher Sr.

Belcher Sr., Earl D., "Pappy" 83 passed away October 12, 2013 after a two year courageous battle with cancer. He was born on June 18, 1930 in Butler County, KY. Earl retired from Philip Morris as a mechanic. He was a faithful member of Farmdale Baptist Church.
Earl is survived by his loving wife of 34 years Mae Cook Belcher, children Deborah Akemon, Barbara Meredith (Jerry), Earl D. Belcher Jr., (Debbie), Jacqueline Ehle and Billy Winburn (Brenda), sister Corrine Staples, five grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and his best friend Captain.

Roxie Wilma Burden Whittinghill

Roxie Whittinghill, age 92, of Morgantown, Ky., passed away Saturday, October 12, 2013 at her residence.  Mrs. Whittinghill was born Nov. 26, 1920 in Butler Co. to the late Lonzo and Lilly Childers Burden.  She was a charter member of the Green Valley Church of Christ.  Roxie and her husband Ruil were former owners/operators of Whittinghill Grocery for 46 years in the Jetson community.  She was preceded in death by her parents; husband:  Ruil Whittinghill; four brothers:  Elige, Alfred, Ralph and Frank Burden.

Roscoe D. Alford age 82 of Morgantown Kentucky, passed away Friday, October 11, 2013 at the Morgantown Care and Rehab. Roscoe was born on September 2, 1931 in Butler County, Ky. to the late Escoe and Mural Burden Alford. He was a member and deacon of first General Baptist Church in Shepherdsville, Ky. and was retired from Kosmos Dale Cement and was a carpenter.

Billy Horace Jones

Billy Jones, age 89, of Bowling Green, passed away Friday, October 11, 2013 at Greenview Regional Hospital.  Mr. Jones was born July 19, 1924 in Butler Co. to the late Abe K. and Mattie Bell Rutherford Jones.  Billy was a retired mechanic and a member of Clear Fork Baptist Church.  He was also a WWII Veteran that served in the Marines.  He was preceded in death by his parents; wife:  Juanita Jones; sisters:  Kathlean Brown and Anne Davis; brothers:  Paul Jones, Peck Jones, Casey Jones and A.K. Jones Jr.

Joyce Bridges

Joyce Bridges, age 61, of Morgantown, passed away Wednesday, October 9, 2013 at the Medical Center in Bowling Green.  Ms. Bridges was born Feb. 4, 1952 in Evansville, IN. to the late Hubert J. and Annabelle Jamerson Mercer.  Joyce was a self employed construction worker.  She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Randy; one sister, Mary Lou; and one son Zakry Adkins.
