Clifton Moore Hack

Clifton Moore Hack, 68, of Caneyville, passed away Sunday, March 30th, 2014 at the Ohio County Hospital in Hartford. 

He was born on February 22nd, 1946 in Grayson County, the son of the late Roy and Gertrude (Mudd) Hack. Clifton worked over 20 years for Southwind Coal Mine in Ohio County. Then he retired from the Grayson County Road Department in 2008. Clifton was a member of the American Legion Post 81. He enjoyed watching his favorite team, the Kentucky Wildcats and loved growing watermelons.   He was a loving dad and papaw.

Born Jan. 4, 1944 and reared in Tulsa, OK; married Sharron H. Francis on July 27, 1968 for 45 years.
Preceded in death by parents, father Alex W. Francis, Jr. and mother Jewell Womack Francis.   

Survived by: Sharron H. Francis, wife of 44 years, sister [Patricia Aronson (Hal)] of Coronado, CA, son Jason Francis (Jenny), daughter [Heather Graham (Josh)] of Mt. Pleasant, SC, grandchildren (Peyton Graham and Lorelei Graham, and his beloved dogs (Clarke, Isaac, Jenny, and Blackie).

Pansy Marie Johnson Garrison

Pansy Garrison, 100, of Morgantown, Ky. passed away Tuesday, March 25, 2014 at the Morgantown Care and Rehab Center in Morgantown. Pansy was born March 9, 1914 in Butler County, to the late Columbus and Lilly Flener Johnson.  She was a Homemaker. Mrs. Garrison is  preceded in death by her husband Leo Gene Garrison,  2 sons Porter and Lemuel Garrison; one daughter Elizabeth "Lizzie" Hillers; and  many brothers and sisters.

Otis Earl Bryant

Otis Earl Bryant, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 25, 2014 at Twin Lakes Regional Medical Center. He had been a resident of Bee Hive Assisted Living in Leitchfield when he was taken to TLRMC last Tuesday suffering from shortness of breath. His condition briefly improved before he passed due to complications from kidney failure. He was with his son, Paul, daughter, Mary Sue Pauley, and granddaughter Beth Bryant when he passed. Otis was 100 years old.

Sami Jo Brooks

Sami Jo Brooks, 29 of Morgantown, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, March 25, 2014 at the Medical Center in Bowling Green, Ky. Sami was born August 15, 1984 in Elizabethtown, Kentucky, to Lloyd and Donna Crain Brooks. She was a Butler County High School Graduate and attended Richland Missionary Baptist Church. Sami is preceded in death by one sister Abagail Marie Dailey, grandmother Blanche Brooks and great grandmother Doris Dailey.

Vivian Ellis Gorrell

Vivian Ellis Gorrell, formerly of Mt. Vernon, IL, passed away at the McLean County Nursing Home in Normal, IL on March 22, 2014.  Her funeral will be at Smith Funeral Home in Morgantown, KY on March 31 at 11 A.M. Burial will follow at Threlkel Cemetery in Roundhill, KY.  

Vivian was born October 13, 1919 in Rochester, KY the daughter of Theodore and Vena Suddeth Ellis.  She married James H. Gorrell on January 11, 1940 in Princeton, IN.  He died June 12, 1978.

Daniel F. "Dan" Kelly

Daniel F. "Dan" Kelly, 67 of Bowling Green, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, March 18, 2014 at the Hospice of Southern Ky. Hospice Center in Bowling Green, Ky. Dan was born September 7, 1946 in Berkley, Michigan to the late Daniel F. Kelly and Doris Marie Hayter Scruggs. He was the State Farm Agent in Morgantown, Ky. for 33 years, member and served as Bishop of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, assistant coach for BCHS tennis team, volunteered for various sporting and community events for the betterment of children and the community.

Richard Watson Hoover

Richard Watson Hoover, 89 of Morgantown, Kentucky, passed away Monday, March 17, 2014  at the Medical Center in Bowling Green, Ky. Richard was born January 6, 1925 in Greenville, Kentucky to the late Roy and Buelah Mallory Hoover. Mr. Hoover was a member of Mud River Union Baptist Church, a World War II Army Veteran and retired machine operator with DINA CIRCUITS. He is preceded in death by one daughter Mildred Embry; one brother Junior Hoover and one sister Revie Davis.

Carrol L. Daugherty

Carrol L. Daugherty, of Horse Branch, passed away, Wednesday, March 12, 2014 at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital at the age of 79. He was born May 25, 1934 in Cromwell, Kentucky to the late Offie and Lena (Cook) Daugherty and Guy and Lillian Taylor. He was a member of the Horse Branch Church of God and was retired from General Electric in Louisville where he worked for 29 years. He was a member of the Oakalona Masonic Lodge #853 in Louisville and was a Kentucky Colonel.

Donald B. "Duck" Haynes

Donald B. "Duck" Haynes, 70 of Morgantown, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, March 13, 2014, at his residence. Donald was born January 21, 1944 in Butler County Kentucky to the late Dayward and Ruby D. Coleman Haynes and husband of the late Lanna Rhea "Peggy" Keen Haynes. He was past Master and member of the Woodbury Lodge #280, past president of Butler County Conservation Club and retired from the Kentucky Dept of transportation in 1999.
