Carl Pharis

Carl Pharis, 99, of Welch’s Creek, passed away Monday, February 2nd, 2015 at his residence. 

He was born on November 27th, 1915 in Butler County, the son of the late Oda and Elberta (Taylor) Pharis. Carl was a member of the Chapel Union Missionary Baptist Church where he was a Deacon for over 40 years. He was a 50 year member of the Banock Masonic Lodge #824 in Dexterville, KY.   

Carl is survived by one son, Louis Pharis (Melba) of Louisville; one daughter, Benita Minton (Jim) also of Louisville; one brother, Uda Pharis (Jerry) of Leitchfield; three sisters, Emogene Byers (Raymond) of Shepherdsville, Virginia Findley of Morgantown and Ruthie Ingram (Ballard) of Louisville; a daughter in law, Barbara Pharis; six grandchildren, Keith Pharis, Vicki Hertel, Denise Ross, Carla Mattingly, Jessica Johnson and Charlie Pharis and eight great-grandchildren. Other than his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Marquerite (Gary) Pharis; an infant daughter, Wilda Carlene Pharis; one son, Larry Pharis and three brothers, Carmon, Wilmert and Hearl Pharis.

Funeral services will be Thursday, February 5th at 2:00 pm CST at the Chapel Union Church. Burial will be in the Chapel Union Cemetery. There will be a masonic service Wednesday evening at 6:00 pm CST at the Dermitt-Joyce Funeral Home.

Friends may call at the Dermitt-Joyce Funeral Home in Caneyville Wednesday after 12:00 Noon CST and Thursday from 9:00 am until time of service at Chapel Union Church.
