Betty Jeanne Drake

Betty Jeanne Drake, 84, of Morgantown, Ky. passed away Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2015 at the Medical Center in Bowling Green. Betty was born Sept. 10, 1930 in Butler Co., Ky. to the late Albert and Clemance Givens Smith. She was a Homemaker and a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. She was a lifelong resident of Butler County and grew up in the community of Silver City. Betty loved to garden and going to singings with Robert and Beulah Middleton. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Desper Drake, brothers Douglas, Rex and Johnny Smith and one grandson Seth Drake.

Juanita Alford

 Juanita Alford, 89, of Caneyville, passed away Monday, January 5th, 2015 at Twin Lakes Regional Medical Center in Leitchfield. 

She was born on October 25th, 1925 in Shively, KY, the daughter of the late James Walter and Irene (Pryor) Hack. She was a member of the Caneyville Baptist Church. Juanita was a house parent in the Georgia Baptist Children’s Home.

 Susan Beth Bunch, 55, of  Bowling Green, Ky., passed away Sunday, January 4, 2015 at her  residence.  She was born December 30, 1959  in Greenville, Ky.  to the late Joseph and Ella Holman Bunch.  Susan was a homemaker.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Ella "Tootie" Bunch.

Carrie Hunt McKinney

Carrie Hunt McKinney, 75 of Morgantown, Ky. passed away Saturday, January 3, 2015 at the Medical Center in Bowling Green, Ky. Carrie was born August 17, 1939 in Butler County Kentucky to the late Harlan and Gustie Duke Hunt and wife of the late Curtis H. McKinney. She was a member of Morgantown First Baptist Church and a retired sewing machine operator at Kanes and Kellwood . Other than her parents and husband she is preceded in death by one son Stevie C. McKinney; one daughter Camela J. McKinney and two brothers Luther and Vincent Hunt.

Wallace "Coy" McCoy

Wallace "Coy" McCoy, 78, of  Morgantown, Ky. passed away Sunday, January 4, 2015 at his residence  in Morgantown.  Coy was born August 29, 1936  in Butler Co., Ky. to the late Edward "Buster" Burton and Murnie Ann Brown McCoy . He retired from Holley Carburetor  and was a member of  Union Missionary Baptist Church.  He enjoyed fishing, woodworking and working on small engines.  He was  preceded  in death by his parents, four brothers R.C., Penn, Prentice and Paul McCoy.

Lorene Johnson, 95, of Morgantown, Kentucky passed away Tuesday, December 30, 2014 at the Twin Lakes Regional Medical Center in Leitchfield, Kentucky. Lorene was born July 12, 1919 in Ohio County, Kentucky to the late Rado and Gusta Wilcox Clark and was the wife of the late Cooper Johnson. She was a member of Brooklyn Missionary Baptist Church and a homemaker.

Rachel Wisie Goff

Rachel Wisie Goff, 77, of Cromwell, passed away, Monday, December 29, 2014 at her home. She was born June 8, 1937 in Butler County to the late Joe and Parthena Embry Phelps. She was a member of Oak Grove Church of God and was a homemaker.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Audrey Goff, her son, Stevie Goff, four brothers, Noah Phelps, Wesley Phelps, Freeman Phelps, O.D. Phelps and five sisters, Alta Daugherty, Barbara Daugherty, Essie Lawrence, Hallie Coots and Lura Flener.

Joyce Porter Hammers

She was known throughout Butler County and beyond as a matriarch to all and an artistic businesswoman who reinvented herself over the decades. Joyce Porter Hammers, 83, passed away December 28, 2014, at the Morgantown Care and Rehabilitation Center after a long illness. She was a proud native of Morgantown, where she spent her life. As a young woman, she clerked for the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service and worked as a secretary at Morgantown Elementary and a clerk at Wan's Medical Clinic.

Harold Clay "Buckwheat" Burris

Harold Clay "Buckwheat" Burris, 67 of Morgantown, Ky. passed away Friday December 26, 2014 at the Greenview Regional Hospital in Bowling Green, Ky. Harold was born July 2, 1947 in Butler County Kentucky to the late Foster and Lula Payton Burris. He was of the Baptist faith and retired construction worker.  Other than his parents he is preceded in death by one half sister Dorothy Long and one half brother Roger Burris.

Paul Wayne Southerland

Paul Wayne Southerland, 70 of Lewisburg, Kentucky died on Monday, December 22, 2014, at Commonwealth Regional Specialty Hospital in Bowling Green, Kentucky.

He was born Thursday, March 30, 1944, the son of the late John Southerland and the late Josephine Hawes Southerland. He was the husband of the late Pat Knight Southerland.

He was a Foreman for Emerson Electric.
