Verner D. Cook

Verner D. Cook, 95, of Morgantown, Kentucky, passed Thursday, December 29, 2016, at Morgantown Care & Rehab. Verner was born on Wednesday, December 14, 1921, in Butler County, Kentucky to the late Clyde R. and Meedy O. Proctor Cook and was husband of the late Thelma Maudrie Staples Cook. He was a member of Morgantown First Baptist Church and a United States Army Veteran serving during World War II and Korea. He retired during the Vietnam War after 23 1/2 years of service receiving the Bronze Star during World War II from General George S. Patton.

Wendell J. Kessinger

Wendell J. Kessinger, age 80 of Liberty Ky., formerly of Morgantown Ky., passed away Wednesday, December 21, 2016, at the Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville Ky. Wendell was born on November 27, 1936, in Butler Co. Ky., to the late Odie and Sylvia Lacefield Kessinger. He retired from Ford Motor Company after many years of service. Other than his parents he is preceded in death by one sister Ruby Kessinger Embry and three brothers Denzil, Gwendon, and Mendell Kessinger.

Randall Lee "Randy" Hamlet

Randall Lee "Randy" Hamlet, 54, of Morgantown, KY, passed away Wednesday, December 21, 2016, at the Medical Center in Bowling Green, KY. Randy was born March 17, 1962, in Marion, KY to the late Arlie "Beaver" Smith and Virginia Nell Smith who survives. Randy was a retired river boat deckhand and a US Army Veteran.  He was preceded in death by his wife - Bobbie Jo Tarrance Hamlet.

Donald "Rayburn" Britt, 79, of Cromwell, Ky. passed away Wednesday, December 21, 2016, at his residence.  He was born in Simpson Co. on November 10, 1937, to the late David and Annie Eaton Britt.  He was of the Baptist faith, a truck driver for Goldenrod for 25 years, worked at Kendall Co.

Steaven Michael May, 35 of Morgantown, Ky. passed away Thursday, December 15, 2016, in Bowling Green, Ky. Steaven was born December 30, 1980, in Kissimmee Florida to the late Russell Franklin May and Sandra Kay Cox May who survives. He was a plumber and loved spending time with family and friends.

Tina Gail King Crowe

Tina Gail King Crowe, 57, of  Bowling Green, KY died Saturday, December 17, 2016 at her residence. She was born in Morgantown, KY on April 4, 1959 to the late Charles Ray King and Lou Evelyn Cardwell King.  Tina worked as a dietary aide at Morgantown Care & Rehab for 22 years.  She was a member of Living Hope Baptist Church and attended Christ Fellowship Church.  Tina loved helping her community by volunteering at the Hope House in Bowling Green and she also loved to cook and listen to classic rock music.

Marie Perry

Marie Perry, 87, of Bowling Green, passed away on Friday, December 16, in the Hospice House of Hospice of Southern Kentucky. She was a Sunnyside, KY native and daughter of the late Curtis and Dollie Woods Owens. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Murrill C. Perry, a son, Harlan Wayne Perry, and a brother, Gilbert Harlan Owens.
Mrs. Perry was a member of Dedicated Baptist Church, Sunnyside. She retired from work in the Ad Department of the Bowling Green Daily News.

Ruby Kessinger Embry

Ruby Kessinger Embry, 71, of Morgantown, Kentucky died Saturday, December 17, 2016 at the Cal Turner Rehab & Specialty Care in Scottsville, Kentucky. Ruby was born June 11, 1945, to the late Odie and Sylvia Lacefield Kessinger. She was a member of Chapel Union Missionary Baptist Church and worked as Butler County High School secretary for many years. Other than her parents, she is preceded in death by three brothers - Denzel, Gwendon and Mendell Kessinger.

Ruby Helen Franklin

Ruby Helen Franklin, 86, of Morgantown, Kentucky died Saturday December 17, 2016 at the Hospice of Southern KY Hospice House. Ruby was born March 19, 1930 in Butler County, Kentucky to the late Tildon and Pearl Milam Miller.  She was the wife of the late Jerry Franklin. She was a member of Cool Springs General Baptist Church and also attended Pleasant Rock Full Gospel Church.  She was retired from Kanes Manufacturing.

Ray E. Spurgeon

Ray E. Spurgeon, 69 of Roundhill, KY died Tuesday, Dec. 13, 2016 at his residence.

The Hohenwald, TN native was a son of the late Claude and Wilma Pope Spurgeon. He was a self employed contruction worker.
