There will be a 90th birthday celebration for Minnie Beasley on February 10,2013 at Morgantown Community Church, from 2PM to 4PM.   Everyone is invited. No gifts please.

Morgantown Elementary School held their Spelling Bee on Friday, February 1st. At 9:00am the Primary students competed followed by the Intermediate students at 1:00pm.

Andrea's Mission For Men is a Christ-centered recovery program that has recently been founded in Butler County. Through witnessing the ongoing success and impact of the women's program, Jimmy Flener, the founder of People Who care Ministries felt a calling to begin a men's facility in Butler County. The Women's program began approximately 2 years ago and has assisted 20 women in the recovery process.

A visitor to Butler County back in 1895 left his mark from here to Rockport Indiana and beyond. He likely had arrived by riverboat since he, apparently, did not own a horse at the time. Enjoy this tale courtesy of some old microfilm.

The Butler County Little League will be having sign ups for the upcoming season.  The dates include:

The Butler County High School NJROTC traveled to Paoli Peaks, Indiana, on January 26, 2013, to enjoy fun in the snow on a skiing trip. The 40 cadets were housed at Crane Naval Weapons Station, IN. On Saturday, after arriving and checking into the barracks, they traveled to the Peaks for skiing and snowboarding. The following day they hit the slopes again for snow tubing before heading back to Butler County that evening. Although the trip included a lengthy bus trip, everyone enjoyed the snow activities and the bonding within the unit. A good time was had by all.

Grace Temple will be having an all you can eat pancake breakfast on February 9, 2013.  The cost is $5.00 for adults and $3.00 for children 12 and under.  All proceedes will go to benefit the soup kitchen and ministry.  Grace Temple is located at 111 West Ohio Street, Morgantown, KY.  Sunday school @ 10:30am, Worship @ 11:30am, Friday night service @ 7:00pm.  Soup kitchen on Monday and Thursday nights from 5-7 pm.

We will be having a Celebration of Life for our brother, Donnie Lee Deel.  It will be held at Aberdeen Baptist Church on February 3, 2013, from 2:00 to 4:00pm.  We would like our family and friends to join us.   The Celebration of Life will be held by Donnie’s brothers and sisters, Ronnie, Susan, Melinda, Joey, and Melitta.

The second meeting of the Butler County Young Farmers of America Chapter will be Tuesday January 29th at the Butler County Extension Office at 6:00 P.M.  Anyone involved in agriculture in Butler County is invited to come join us.  Come help make our chapter a big success!  Dr. Steve Hampton will be speaking and taking questions about issues you may be having with your livestock.
