Chapter 3: Outstanding In His Field

When Mr. Tom told us he couldn’t return us to our parents, my spirit sank. “I’d love to return you, but I’ve got a big load to retrieve from a packing plant!” he said. “It’s in the opposite direction from your parents’ house. We’re already several hours away from Grover’s. If I take you back to Grover’s, I’ll miss my deadline and lose that plant’s business.”

4-H Rabbit-Ears Add to Ribbon Collection at KY State Fair.

On Wednesday, August 14th, the Butler County 4-H Rabbit-Ears left going to the KY State Fair.  We had 50 rabbits entered in 2 days of competition.  On Thursday, we competed in the ARBA Open Show where we won 47 ribbons.  On Friday, we competed in the State 4-H Rabbit Show, where we won 29 ribbons.
The Rabbit-Ears brought home a total of 76 ribbons from the Kentucky State Fair.  We now have an awesome opportunity to represent the state of Kentucky at the ARBA National Competition in Harrisburg, PA on October 17-23.

Aberdeen Baptist Church Homecoming

The Aberdeen Baptist Church located on the corner of Leonard Oak Drive and Hwy 79 will celebrate it's annual homecoming on Sunday Morning October 6th. 4-Her’s Compete at Kentucky State Fair

Luke Jacobs, Ethan Wester, Luke Mooneyhan, Jared Hudnall, Justin Hudnall, Aaron Jacobs, and Hannah Whittinghill.

Several Butler County 4-Her’s competed at the 2013 Kentucky State Fair held in August in Louisville, KY.  Butler County 4-Her’s submitted more exhibits this year than ever before!!!  4-Her’s completed in a variety of categories and received 57 ribbons on their projects.  Along with 4-Her’s displaying projects for competition, there were also several 4-Her’s competing in the Rabbit Championship.  Our Butler County 4-H Rabbit-Ears brought home 76 ribbons between the 4-H Rabbit Show and Open Division Show.

Garry McKinney Honored by BC United Methodist Women

Garry McKinney receives award from United Methodist Women

Garry McKinney received a surprise Monday night, September 16, at the Morgantown Mission Board of Directors meeting when the meeting room filled with Garry’s family members and several local women. These visitors were in on the surprise as Phyllis Tate presented a Special Mission Recognition award to Garry from the Butler County United Methodist Women in honor of his faithful work at the Morgantown Mission.

Frank & Lasiter Wedding

Robert and Teresa Frank of Munster, Ind., announce the engagement of their daughter, Brandy Nichole Frank, to Jason Devon Lasiter, son of Dennis and Cheryl Lasiter of Morgantown.
Brandy received a Bachelor of Arts degree in 2009 from Western Kentucky University.  She is employed by Whirlpool Corp. 
Jason received a Bachelor of Arts degree in 2009 from Western Kentucky University.  He is employed by Country Oven Bakery.
The wedding will be at 4:30 p.m. on October 5, 2013, at the Carroll Knicely Conference Center.

Mt. Liberty Homecoming & Revival

Mt. Liberty Baptist Church will be hosting their annual homecoming on Sunday, September 22.  Morning service will be at 10:30am with Bro. Mike Daughtery bringing the message.  There will be special singing in the afternoon following the noon meal.

Revival will start Monday, September 23-25 at 7:00pm with Bro. Mike Allen bringing the message nightly.  Everyone is invited to attend.

One of the toughest parts of working in the ER is the constant barrage of bad news that one has to deliver. Unfortunately, cancer is one of the top causes for presentation to the veterinary ER, and the leading cause of death in dogs in the United States. Having lost my own beloved pit bull, JP, to a brain tumor, my heart now breaks whenever I tell pet owners that their dog or cat has cancer.
