Green River Museum opens 2015 season

1930 Iron Highway Sign for Lock 4

Green River Museum's Season Opening Celebration was held on Saturday, June 13.  Butler County's rich history is revealed in the fascinating objects recently acquired by the museum. New items include the turn-of-the-century offering table from the now razed African American Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Morgantown, a ca. 1930 iron highway sign for Lock No. 4, a ca. 1968 menu from the Flener Hotel, and several original George Dabbs photographs.

Successful Spaghetti Fundraiser

Friday night June 5, several from the Rochester and surrounding communities converged on the Rochester Community building for a spaghetti supper provided by Olive Garden.  Proceeds go to the ongoing funding of the Rochester Ballpark.

Wade Cemetery Church Rededication Ceremony/Service

A rededication service is planned for Saturday June 13, 2015 at 2:00 pm. (KENTUCKY USA) If anyone has pictures of this church, please bring them to share. Pass this information along to your family members or anyone interested in the church, its history, or restoration. All welcome.

Holy Trinity Catholic Church's Spaghetti Dinner

Holy Trinity Catholic Church's spaghetti dinner is this Friday, June 5th. 
It will be held from 5:30pm to 7:30 pm in the parish hall at 766 Logansport Road. 
All the proceeds will go towards hosting our "Christmas in July" event at Morgantown Care and Rehabilitation. 
The cost is $5 which includes spaghetti, salad, sauce, dessert, and a drink.  Carryout is available or you can dine in the parish hall.

Historical Tour of the South Side

Saturday afternoon May 30, Butler County Arts Guild sponsored a historical tour that made stops in Woodbury, Rochester, and Provo.  Randle Lytle was the speaker in Rochester.  Mr. Lytle was the final lockmaster, from 1957 until its close in 1981.

Rochester Spaghetti Supper

The Ladies' Auxiliary will be hosting a Spaghetti supper at the Rochester Community Center on Friday, June 5 at 5:30.  Olive Garden agreed to provide the salad and break sticks this year. You can get a discount of $1 per adult plate (limit one per adult) for bringing in a written recipe. The cost of the dinner is $8 (without recipe) or $7 (with recipe) for adults; $4 for children 4-12; and children under 4 are free. Dinner includes: Spaghetti, Salad, Bread Stick, Dessert, and Drink.

4-H Project Day Camp – June 22-26

The Butler County 4-H Project Day Camp will be June 22-26 at the Butler County Extension Service/Eva Hawes Ag Expo Building from 9 a.m.—3 p.m.  We will have many projects available including:  woodworking, needle stitching, cooking, nature crafts, photography, painting, and much, much more.

The family of Kevin Diehl wish to thank all of those that have shown our family expressions of love through comforting words, phone calls, cards, visits, food and especially prayers! Thanks to Jones Funeral Chapel for helping us make arrangements for final goodbye to our son!
Special thanks to Fr. Kalombo, Holy Trinity Church for the beautiful burial service and our wonderful church family for meal prepared afterwards!
Huge thank you to family and friends who traveled near and far for celebration of Kevin's life!
