The Annual Farm Safety Day for Butler County fourth graders was held on Thursday at the Charles T. Black City Park.   LeeAnn Daugherty was the coordinator of the event.  Around 150 students attended .

BC Midway Homemakers Club is running a Socks for Seniors Drive

The Butler County Midway Homemakers Club is running a Socks for Seniors drive in a few local businesses: King Drugs on 255 West GL Smith Street, and Dollar General Market on 816 South Main Street. The drive is an effort by the club to collect donations of new socks for individuals in the local nursing home. All donations will be used locally.

4-H Summer Camps Provide Summer Learning Experiences

As school doors get ready to close for the summer, the learning opportunities continue for the thousands of youngsters who will include a 4-H camp experience as part of their upcoming summer vacation plans.
 
While some new twists have been added to camp activities, the basic goals of the 4-H camping experience still include lessons on appreciating the natural environment, making new friends and learning lifetime hobbies.

Austin Phelps Awarded Eagle Scout Rank

Austin Phelps was awarded the Eagle Scout Rank during a ceremony at Morgantown Church of Christ on Saturday, joining approximately 4% of Boy Scouts in the nation.

Queen of the Diamonds Pageant

Butler County Little League held their first Queen of the Diamond pageant on Saturday. The pageant was open to local girls from birth-14, and boys 19-23 months.

BCHS Band Hosts Movie Night Concert

The Butler County High School Band Boosters had their fourth annual Movie Night Concert on Tuesday night, at the full-to-capacity BCHS Auditorium. The event featured 6 pieces from the movies Frozen, The Lion King, Fantasia, The Wizard of Oz, Lord of The Rings, and Star Wars, played by the 130 piece band, and interspersed with commercials produced by BCHS students.

Melvin Bowles, Ron Glass, Mike Martin and Mike Jennings

Mike Jennings and Mike Martin won the Grass Hay and Grass/Legume Mix hay contest of the Butler County Stockman's Association Forage Contest.  Craig Cohron(not Pictured) won the Baleage division.  Presenting the award are Melvin Bowles and Ron Glass of the Stockman's Association.
