The Crossmen Quartet's final performances in memory of Boyce Flener will be held on Friday, August 26 at 7 pm at Owensboro Riverpark Center and Saturday, August 27 at 7 pm at the Bowling Green Capitol Arts Theatre.

Chapel Union Baptist Church

Robert Reason Dockery, the founding pastor of the church, and his granddaughter, Mable Pharris, who grew up to be a Sunday School teacher at the church.

Chapel Union Baptist Church, on Highway 79 North, is 120 years old. Pastor Dr. Darryl Dockery, well known for his musical talents, has been their pastor for a year. Dockery said, “Of course, I felt like the Lord had called us there, and I also felt like now was the time for me to go to my home church to continue God’s work – in the church that has such a long history of partnering with my family.”

BCHS Class of 1964 Annual Picnic

Aberdeen Baptist Church Revival Sept. 11-15th

Aberdeen Baptist Church will be host a revival September 11-15th.  Sunday service at 10:50 A.M. and 7:00 P.M. each evening. Evangelist Dr. John Mark Toby, congregational singing led by Scott Flener and revival choir led by Rachel Johnson. 

Dr. John Mark Toby has served as the Director of Missions for the Warren Association of Baptists since January 2013.  He was a Pastor for twenty-seven years and currently serves as a Chaplain Colonel in the Army National Guard for the past thirty-four years.

Drake's Farm Service Field Day

Thursday afternoon, August 11, Drake’s Farm Service held a Field Day at the Rochester Bottoms.  Denny Drake provided the introductions and welcome. 

  Craig Strosnider, DeKalb/Asgrow District sales manager

The first presentation was Dekalb/Asgrow Variety Spotlight program presented by Craig Strosnider, the district sales manager.  Soybean and Nitrogen plots were also discussed.  He explained how corn, like people, has different genes.

Back Home Again

Sunday, August 7 was Monticello Baptist Church’s celebration of 211 years.  The gospel group Living Proof, from Bowling Green, performed in the 10 o'clock hour.  Living Proof consists of Allen and Heather Layman, Tina Barber and her husband, Steve Barber.  They sang a variety of songs, as well as a few before the message at 11:00. They sang a revamped version of the standard hymn “At Calvary” sprinkled in amongst original material.

The OWL Academy: On Our Way to Learning

The Butler County Family Resource Center will be enrolling new and returning students for the 2016-2017 Owl Academy beginning Monday, August 15th.

The OWL Academy is an early childhood program established in 2012 for all children ages 2-5 in Butler County.  Students and their parent/caregiver attend the program and engage in early learning and kindergarten readiness opportunities. The OWL Academy classroom is located in North Butler Elementary School and students take pride in attending class at the school.
