Happy 40th Anniversary

 Bobby and Karen McKinney

The family of Bobby and Karen McKinney would like to wish them a happy 40th wedding anniversary.  Bobby and Karen were married on July 31, 1976 at Monticello Baptist Church in Provo.  They have two children: Andy McKinney and Laura Lynch, both of Morgantown, and three grandchildren.

Green River Fun Float rescheduled for August 20th

Melanie Hunt, the chairperson of the Morgantown Trail Town Task Force, release the following announcement, "Due to recent rain events and local user report the Green River is running very high and very rough particularly at Woodbury. The Taskforce will be at the Green River Museum at 8 am tomorrow to greet anyone still wanting to take on the Green, but we are postponing the associated Door Prizes at Aberdeen until the 20th of August where we will attempt this gathering on the Green River again!

UK Poultry Specialist Stresses Sanitation in Multistate Salmonella Outbreaks

Salmonella outbreaks associated with contact with live poultry in backyard flocks that began in early June are now affecting people in 45 states, and Kentucky appears to have the highest number of illnesses. University of Kentucky poultry specialists are stressing the importance of preventing bacteria for backyard flock owners.

I want to officially welcome everyone to the 2016-2017 school year!  I hope you are enjoying your summer and have exciting adventures to share with us.  Over the summer, the faculty and staff of Butler County Middle School have been working hard to prepare the building for the first day of school. We are honored to have many new faces in the building this year and would like to  welcome Mrs. Fulton, Mr. Napier, Mr. Cardwell, Mrs. Jenkins, and Travor Martin to the BCMS team.

Back to School Bash

On behalf of the Morgantown Mission, Butler County Family Resource Center, and the Butler County Youth Services Center all registered Butler County students are invited to the Back to School Bash at Morgantown City Park on Tuesday, August 2nd 6:00pm to 8:00pm. The pool will be open for swimming and hot dogs will be served.  School supplies will be handed out at the pavilions.  Please join us.  We hope to see you there and we wish you a successful 2017 school year!

BCHS Band Camp: "This Just In"

Band Camp began Monday, July 18th and will continue through next Wednesday, July 25th.  Due to the high heat index, the camp has been moved indoors at the high school.  However, this has not dampened any spirits of the high school and middle school students participating. This year there is a total of 140 students marching including 25 seniors. Leading the students are Directors Jason Ausbrooks and Jordan Evans, as well as Assistant Directors, Phil Ashby, Chase Pardue, and Evan Hollowell.

Gone Fish'n

Elders from Morgantown Care and Rehab and kids of their care partners enjoyed a beautiful morning out fishing. There was lots of excitement as they arrived at the water with all kinds of discoveries!

4-H Summer Camp

We had a grand total of 94 people attend 4-H Summer Camp July 11-15 at West Kentucky 4-H Camp in Dawson Springs, KY. Everyone had a wonderful time!

Morgantown First Baptist Clara Lee Circle Projects

Members of the Clara Lee Circle of Morgantown First Baptist Church have been busy with their sewing machines in the past few months.  The ladies with the help of one gentleman have constructed 127 pillow-case dresses and 42 pairs of shorts for children.  These garments have been sent to the Haven of Rest in Inez, Kentucky and to IMPACT Ministries in Lynch, Kentucky.
