MES Murals

Morgantown Elementary School has started their new school year continuing their Leader in Me program.  Renovations to the front lobby have been made, but one of the biggest changes you will notice in the school is several colorful, beautiful paintings on the wall done by muralist Lori James.

Boys & Girls Club Attends State Fair

The Butler County Boys & Girls Club traveled to the Kentucky State Fair on August 26th.  About 70 members took part in the trip. The Butler County School System provided a bus and the Board of Directors, Butler County Farm Bureau, and the Kentucky Alliance of Boys & Girls Clubs made the trip possible. 
"If you support our club in any way you are improving Butler County one child at a time," said Bruce White, Director.

On Thursday, August 25th preschoolers through 4th grade students at Morgantown Elementary and North Butler Elementary were recipients of a children’s book from a local author. The award-winning author, Linda Hawkins, along with local businesses and the Butler County School District, partnered together to provide over 1,000 free interactive and fun books for students.

Titans Replace Football Destroyed In House Fire

Jordan Dobbs recently lost his home to fire this past Monday in Rochester.  Last Sunday he attended a Titan's game and received an NFL football which was destroyed in the fire.
"Jordan mentioned this to me, and I had mentioned it to our front office staff.  The school nurse, Kelly Tichenor called the Titans, and they sent Jordan a brand new signed football along with some other items that arrived this morning," said Michael Gruber, BCHS Principal.
Jordan is the son of Tia Clark. The family's home and belongings were destroyed in the fire.

Butler County High FCCLA Attended National Leadership Conference in San Diego, CA

The Butler County High FCCLA joined more than 8,500 FCCLA student leaders, members, and advisers at the San Diego Convention Center in San Diego, CA July 3rd-7th to participate in the annual FCCLA National Leadership Conference (NLC).

Fireworks & Ice Cream Benefit @ Rochester Ball Park

On Friday, September 2nd, the Rochester Ladies League will be hosting Fireworks & Ice Cream to benefit Tia Clark and her four children, who recently lost their house and belongings in a fire. They will be accepting donations of money, household items, clothing and personal care items.  They will begin serving ice cream with all the toppings at 7:00 pm, with fireworks to begin at dark at the Rochester Ball Park.

Green River Fun Float

The Morgantown Trail Town Task Force hosted their first Green River Fun Float this past Saturday, August 20.  Nearly 20 Kayakers and Canoeists took to the river for the approximately 9 miles/ 2-hour float down the Green River from Woodbury to Aberdeen. Trail Town Task Force is interested in spreading the word about the Green River as a Butler County resource.
