Butler County Arts Guild: Butler County Pride Visual Arts Project & Chalk Art Festival

The Butler County Arts Guild recently hosted the Chalk Art Festival and has another event planned for this coming weekend as part of the Rochester Crafts & Arts Festival.  The Butler County Arts Guild is sponsoring an art contest called the "Butler County Pride Visual Arts Project," exclusively for students.

BCHS Band Honors 24 Seniors

Butler County Middle School Band performs the National Anthem.

Rain did not stop the music yesterday as The Boyce Flener Marching Invitational was moved inside to the gym at Butler County High School.  Twenty-four seniors were honored.  Congratulations to the Class of 2017!!!!!
The band competed at Ohio County on Saturday night and won the following: best color guard, best percussion, and first place in their class.

Butler County High School celebrated Homing 2016 on Friday night.  Miss Zoie Pendley was crowned Homecoming Queen.  She is the daughter of Greg & Stacie Evans of Logansport. Mr. Chandler Franzell was crowned Homecoming King.  He is the son of Chris Franzell of Aberdeen & Becky Shumway of Leonard Oak.

ELA Family Night A Success at MES

 On Thursday, September 8th, Morgantown Elementary hosted an ELA Family Night for the Butler County School District. ELA stands for english language acquisition and is a program for students that are learning english as a second language. The ELA population continues to grow for the school district as efforts are made to provide services to meet their needs.

Annual Pie Supper Supports Provo Rural Development

Next year will mark the 60th year of service to the community and Butler County for the Provo Rural Development Club.

 Soon to celebrate 60 years of service

To make sure that can happen, the club hosted its annual pie supper Saturday night. According to club president, Tony Wilson, this is the only fund raiser designed exclusively to support the operation of the club throughout the year.

The Barren River Chapter of Kentucky Public Retirees will be meeting on Monday, September 19, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at the Extension Office, 113 East G. L. Smith Street, Morgantown, Kentucky. The Extension Office is located on the right side of Courthouse Square.

2nd District Fire Department's Annual Fall Family Fun Day

The 2nd District Volunteer Fire Department held their Annual Fall Family Fun Day. They kicked the day off with the Antique Tractor and Car Show.

"We had a great day, it is always good to see everybody.  Events like this help us raise much-needed funds for the fire department.  Currently, we are in need a a new pumper truck," said Fred Tate, Chairman of the 2nd District Volunteer Fire Department Board.

2016 Stockman’s Association Field Day – Sept. 24th

The Butler County Stockman's Association will hold its third annual field day and livestock sale kickoff event on Saturday, September 24th at 4:00 p.m. at the Chad and Becky Tyree farm.  All livestock producers are encouraged to attend.  We will have discussions and demonstrations on cattle management, wildlife management, farm finances, tour a very efficient working and feeding facility, and discuss the 2017 Livestock Sale.  There is no charge to attend and all are welcome.  After the program a free supper of rib eye steak sandwiches will be served.
