2016 Field Day to Focus on Drones, Precision Agriculture, Crop Production and Pollinator Protection

The Butler County Extension Service/Butler County Farm Bureau Field Day will be Thursday, September 1, 2016 at the Rochester Park in beautiful Rochester, KY.    The program will begin promptly at 4:00 p.m.  Registration will begin at 3:30 p.m. 

This year’s Butler County Field Day will be very diverse and offer something for every farm operation.  There will be several demonstrations: flying a drone, precision agriculture, a conservation reserve practice designed to help pollinators (bees), and the Kentucky Soybean Variety Trial.  We will also hear presentations from UK specialists about soybean management techniques to achieve higher yields, Mr. Warren Beeler will bring us an update from the Governor’s Office of Agriculture Policy, and U.S. Congressman Brett Guthrie is scheduled to attend and bring an update of agriculture issues in Washington D.C.  There will be an alternative program for anyone that does not want to go on the ag. tour.  Tracy Cowles will lead a class on “painting spring flowers” that will be enjoyed by all that participate.  Michelle Moore, our Extension nutrition educator will be on hand to provide samples and recipes of healthy foods people can feed their family.   There will be delicious meal prepared by 4-H at the end of the field day so make plans now to attend this year’s event.  There is no charge to attend and all are invited.  If you need an educational event for your CAIP practice this is one not to be missed.
