Feeding Butler County: Bears Lunchbox Express

A mobile route has been traveling to various locations throughout Butler County this summer to provide meals to children.

As part of Butler County’s Summer Feeding Program, a new way of distributing lunches has been developed to allow children ages 2-18 to receive food at convenient stops in multiple areas of the county.

Hack's Crossroad Market Grand Opening

On Saturday, June 22, Hack’s Crossroad Market was slated to hold their grand opening ceremony. Though the weather had other plans when it came time for the car show and bounce houses, the event was still underway beginning at 10am with live music, giveaways, and a ribbon cutting. Present were Morgantown Mayor Billy Phelps, Judge Executive Tim Flener, Morgantown Bank President Tom Jones, and members of the Butler County Chamber of Commerce.

4-H Project Show

The 4-H Project Show is an EXCELLENT opportunity to show off your crafting, sewing, cooking and canning abilities during the Catfish Festival! All ribbon winners in the 4-H Project Show win COLD, HARD CASH and 4-H youth get to show their project at the Kentucky State Fair in August. 4-H Cloverbuds (age 8 and under) show/compete at the Catfish Festival but will not advance to the Kentucky State Fair.

Morgantown Farmer's Market: A Success

The rain did not keep away citizens of Butler County on Saturday, June 22. Morgantown Kentucky's first ever Community Farmers Market took place at Charles Black City Park and was packed with people throughout the day. From 8 a.m. to noon, vendors from the community were set up to provide local products and fresh produce

Morgantown City Pool Swim Lessons

Are your children looking for swim lessons this summer? Morgantown City Pool is offering one-on-one lessons with their very own lifeguards on July 8-12. Prices are $50 per swimmer or $40 when you sign up more than one child. “The staff is very excited and hopes to see you there,” said Pool Manager Andy Fuller.

Butler County Chapter DAR Holds Flag Day Ceremony

The American Flag was flying proudly on the Butler County Courthouse lawn on Friday.

The Butler County Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution held their annual Flag Day Program on June 14. Flag Chairman Lynda O’Driscoll opened the ceremony with a brief introduction and explanation of the importance of the flag.
