Morgantown Farmer's Market: A Success

The rain did not keep away citizens of Butler County on Saturday, June 22. Morgantown Kentucky's first ever Community Farmers Market took place at Charles Black City Park and was packed with people throughout the day. From 8 a.m. to noon, vendors from the community were set up to provide local products and fresh produce

On behalf of the Farmers Market, Ryan Emmick, organizer of the event, gave a big thank you to Mayor Phelps and the Morgantown City Council members for helping them get the market started and for coming out to join them at the event. Judge Executive Tim Flener and all Butler County Magistrates were also present at the farmer’s market as well as many other county officials. Everything from farm fresh fruits and vegetables, coffee, pies and other desserts, to handmade leather goods, hand stitched bears and other crafted items were available for purchasing at the market.

Vendors included Medic Made Coffee, Hooked on Stitches, Silver City Sweets, Momma C's Squirrel Corn, Garden Momma's Goodies, Country Table Crafts, Struttin Rooster Farm and many more. Shelter Insurance was also at the market to hand out bags and merchandise to customers. Live music was played by Jacob Dockery.

“The ol’ football coach comes out in me now and says we are going to enjoy this one, think about what we did well and where we can improve and let's make the July 20th Morgantown Farmers Market even better,” Emmick said.

There are three more Farmer’s Markets scheduled for this summer. Dates include July 20, Aug. 17 and Sept. 21. For more information call 270-999-0282.
