GRCF Poker Run In Remembrance of Jordan Johnson

The Green River Catfish Festival Poker Run was held on Saturday. Proceeds will benefit the Butler County High School Scholarship Fund in remembrance of Jordan Johnson. Wally Carroll (pictured above) won the Miss Catfish award.

Butler County Bears hosted the Rebels of Todd County on Friday night.  The Bears picked up their first district win and dressed out in PINK to support breast cancer awareness. Enjoy a look from the sidelines of people, children, and activities off the field.

GAME PREVIEW: Bears come home, hope to rebound against Todd

A banged-up Butler County High School football team will return to the field tonight in another district game at home against the Todd County Central Rebels (0-6, 0-2).  Butler County (3-3, 0-2) will be looking for its first Class 2A, District 2 win after dropping their first two district contests on the road — at Owensboro Catholic and Union County.  

Although Todd will not pose the same threat as the Bears' last two opponents, B.C.H.S. head coach Ryan Emmick still expects a formidable challenge for his team.

KHSAA clarifies - "THERE IS NO BAN OR PROHIBITION ON POSTGAME HANDSHAKES."

A recent directive issued earlier this week by the Kentucky High School Athletic Association (KHSAA) has sent a firestorm across the state regarding handshakes after athletic contests.  An ESPN Twitter feed tweeted about it on Wednesday and multiple media outlets reported on the issue.

Casteel named head baseball coach at Butler County

For the fourth time in as many years years, the Butler County High School baseball team will have a new head coach.  School officials announced on Monday that John Casteel, 42 (turns 43 on Friday), will take over the Bears' baseball program, replacing Kevin Winn who had led the team for the past two seasons.

Volleyball Honors Seniors

The Butler County High School Volleyball team honored their two seniors during a recent home game. Coach Jimmy Arnold's squad is 2-14 on the season with three games left on the schedule.  The Lady Bears will head toTodd County, Ohio County, and Allen County -Scottsville before starting district play.

Braves thump Bears 49-16

It was a tough outing for the Butler County High School football team on Friday night as the Bears fell hard to district foe Union County in Morganfield.  Plagued by injuries early in the game, the Bears got behind early and dropped a 49-16 decision. 

Butler County (3-3, 0-2) is facing an uphill battle in district play and are hoping to "win out" the rest of the way with district games remaining against Todd County Central (10/11 at home), McLean County (10/18, H), Hancock County (10/25, A).

2013 BCMS Girls' Basketball

The girls’ middle school basketball team started their season off at home Thursday, September 19th, with a 7th and 8th grade win against Hancock Co. Middle School. The team is led by five 8th graders this year. These 8th grade girls, Tori McKinney, Maddy Murphy, Kiana Coleman, Madison Ford, and Brianna Orange, are looking forward to having a good season; getting that first win was a great way to start the season off.
