Meet the Team Night for B.C.H. S. Basketball

The Butler County High School basketball program held its annual Meet the Team Night on Friday, November 20, at the B.C.H.S.  A nice crowd turned out to get their first look at both the Bears' and Lady Bears' basketball squads for the upcoming 2015-16 season.

The event first featured the introduction of the B.C.H.S. cheerleaders, which was done by cheer coach Shelby Baseheart. Assistant coaches are Katie Flener and Lisa Rhoades.

Bears Fall at Mayfield

The Butler Co. Bears football season came to a close with a 50-0 loss to traditional powerhouse Mayfield Cardinals.   The Bears would take the opening kickoff and drive to the Mayfield fifteen yard line. The big play on the drive was a thirty-seven yard completion from Rex Henderson to wide out Blake Graham who was tackled at the fifteen yard line. But on first and ten from the fifteen yard line the Cardinals would intercept a pass intended for Shanklin at the one yard line.

Week 12: From the sidelines...

The Bears' season wrapped up in the 12th week as they fell to Mayfield in the second round of the playoffs.  Butler County finished the season 9-3.  Thank you players and coaches for a great year.

BC Jr. Pro Football to compete in King of the Hill Classic

Butler County Jr. Pro Football will be competing tomorrow in the King of the Hill Classic in Owensboro, Kentucky.  The 30th annual event will feature over 40 of the best youth fooball programs from Kentuck and surrounding states.  Butler County is coached by Travor Martin.

Cross Country Season comes to a close.

Cross Country season has come to an end with the entire girls team qualifying for state and Bryar Beasley and Nolan Johnson qualifying for state from the boys team.  The boys team placed 4th in the region and they only took the first 3 teams.

Butler, Mayfield set to tangle in Class 2A playoffs

With a 42-21 win last week against Ballard Memorial in the first round of the Kentucky High School Athletic Association football playoffs, the Butler County Bears now have a different foe in their sights - the Mayfield Cardinals.  Butler County (9-2) will square off against the Cardinals (10-1) in Mayfield on Friday night, November 13.  Kick-off is set for 7 p.m.
Butler County head coach Ryan Emmick and his team know that facing the almost-strong Mayfield Cardinals will be a challenge.

Bears rally past Ballard Bombers for 42-21 playoff win

The Butler County Bears entered post-season play with a debt to settle from last year. The Ballard Memorial Bombers had upset the Bears 18-14 the previous year and ended the Bears 2014 campaign at home.  The Bears looked to correct that hiccup and did so by way of a 42-21 win. The game for fans was everything that could hope for in a playoff game, including leads, lead changes, and big plays.

Week 11: From the Sidelines...

Supt. Scott Howard presented Coach Emmick with the district runner-up trophy.

The Butler County hosted Ballard Memorial in the first round of the playoffs.  The Bears picked up the win 42-21 and advances to the second round as they head down the road to Mayfield on Friday, November 13th.  Farm Bureau Insurance and WLBQ 101.5 hosted a pre games show interviewing fans and giving away great a variety of items.  Here's a few pictures from the sidelines.  Enjoy!

Kentucky Afield Outdoors: Answers to common questions about Kentucky’s modern gun deer season

 The Information Center at the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources fields approximately 100,000 phone calls annually, and the call volume peaks from late October into early November as hunters inquire about rules and regulations for the statewide modern gun deer season. This year, it opens Nov. 14.
An informal poll of Information Center staff members this week identified common questions about the season. Some of those questions - and answers to them - appear below.
