Bears pound Hornets 53-0, secure #3 seed for playoffs

Butler County (6-3, 3-2) turned in a dominating performance on Friday night in Lewisport as the Bears walloped the Hancock County Hornets 53-0 in a game that was never in doubt.  The win gave Butler County sole possession of the #3 seed in Class 2A, District 2 in the post-season KHSAA playoffs, which will begin Friday, November 8.  Butler County is looking at Murray High School for its first-round opponent.

Week 9: From the sidelines...

The Butler County Bears traveled to Hancock County on Friday night for a cold night of football.  The temperature did the bother the Bears, they were hot as they defeated the Hornets 53-0.

Last night they won the Green River Region Contest and will compete in State Contest on Saturday in Barren County! They will also have a second team competing on Saturday.

Game Preview: It's Bears and Hornets vying for #3 seed

The Butler County Bears (5-3, 2-2) will make the familiar trip to Lewisport on Friday night to take on the Hancock County Hornets (2-6, 2-2) in a game that will determine the #3 seed in Class 2A, District 2. 

"It's where we want to be and it puts us on the path through the playoffs that we feel will give us the best chance to move on," said Butler County Coach Ryan Emmick.  "It is imperative that we come out in the right frame of mind and attack from the first whistle to the last."

Bears roll over McLean 57-6 on Senior Night

It was all Butler County all night long as the home-standing Bears easily dispatched the visiting McLean County Cougars on Friday night in a Class 2A, District 2 playoff game at Morgantown.   Butler County (5-3, 2-2) scored early and often, resulting in a "running clock" midway through the second quarter.

Week 8: From the sidelines...

As the Bears wrap up week 8 of the season they have a 5-3 record with two games left. Butler County defeated McLean County 57-6.  A good crowd was on hand to support the Bears and honor the 13 seniors in their last home game.Here's a look at some of the action on the sidelines...

Is Alabama the king of college football in the eyes of fans in the southeast, or are they the biggest bandwagon for fans with soft allegiances?

I ask this because it's almost impossible to go very far and mention football without finding a Crimson Tide fan.

BCHS Fall Sports Senior Night 2013

The Butler County High School fall sports honored seniors on Friday night prior to kick off of the last home football game of the regular season. Parents escorted their senior across the field. Congratulations to all the 2013 senior athletes.

Butler-McLean matchup set for Senior Night

"McLean is a solid, hard fighting football team."  That's the message Butler County football coach Ryan Emmick has for his team as they prepare to tangle with the McLean County Cougars (3-4, 1-2) on Friday night in a Class 2A, District 2 game.  Butler County (4-3, 1-2) will also have Senior Night activities as 12 players will be playing in their last regular-season home games.  Kick-off is set for 7 p.m.
