Wreck on Hwy.70 Sends Two to Hospital

A single vehicle accident on Wednesday night sent two people to the Medical Center in Bowling Green.  Shortly after 11:00pm emergency personnel responded to the accident on Hwy. 70 (Brownsville Road).  According to Butler County Sheriff's Department a car driven by Justin Boyd (DOB 7/7/94) of Bowling Green dropped of the right shoulder of the road and over-corrected hitting an embankment and overturning.  The car came to rest on its top.

BC Rural Development holds Annual Meeting

The Butler County Rural Development held its 55th annual meeting Saturday, November 3, at the Eva Hawes Ag Expo and Community Building.  Big Bend, Little Muddy, Provo and Reedyville were represented at the meeting.  The annual meeting is the highlight of the association’s year.  After a welcome by President Mary Jo Franklin and the blessing by Greg Drake, there was a meal of turkey, dressing and trimmings provided by Gone Fishin’ and entertainment provided by the Johnson Family.

WKU Art Ed joins with local schools to provide students an interdisciplinary experience in creating art from science.

On Thursday, November 8, 2012, the Western Kentucky University Art Education Out reach Program preservice teachers, the Art, Physics and Chemistry students of Warren Central High School, and the Art students of Butler County High School will hold a combined Raku firing workshop on the campus of Warren Central High School.  This is the first in a series of six planned workshops involving nearly 200 elementary, secondary, and post-secondary students in a study of the art and science used in creating ceramic art.

Veterans Day Activities

Are you thinking about our Veterans and how we can honor them? There are several activities listed below:
1. Friday-- Nov. 9, 2012 at 9 am come out to the BCHS for the county wide Veterans Day Program sponsored by the Butler County Schools.
2. Friday evening--Nov. 9 at 6 pm the Ladies Aux. Post 5837 will honor their Veteran of the Year.
3. Saturday morning--Nov. 10-- The Butler County Chapter DAR will hold the annual Veterans Breakfast starting at 9 am at the Butler County High Commons Area.

BREAKING: Merritt & Meredith to join Morgantown City Council; Price elected to Board of Ed.

New city council members Allen Meredith and Dionne Merritt

Dionne Merritt and Allen Meredith  will be joining four incumbents - Sharon Johnson (Phelps), Terrell House, Russell Givens, and Gary Southerland - as members of a new Morgantown City Council that will take office in January.  Current council member Rick Scott did not seek reelection.

Calendar Girl: Sierra Fields, Centerfold: Austin VonAxelson

The 2013 Calendar Girl/Centerfold Guy contest was held on Saturday night.  Senior Sierra Fields was crowned Calendar Girl and will grace the cover of the calendar. She is the daughter of Greg and Michelle Fields of Morgantown. Senior Austin VonAxelson was crowned Centerfold Guy, he is the son of Joe and Belinda VonAxelson.

Morgantown Care & Rehab hosts Hall of Fame Banquet

Morgantown Care and Rehabilitation held its Hall of Fame Banquet on Thursday, November 1.  Director of Volunteer Services, Shirley Allen welcomed a large crowd to the event. 

"This is one of my favorite events of Signature Health Care, we can honor residents, stakeholders, and community leaders,"added Allen.

Bro. Jim McDaniel, Chaplain, gave the opening prayer while Tiffany Winchel, Admission /Marketing Director, and Ashley Ingram, Speech Language Pathologist , provided special music. 

Butler County Judge Executive David Fields was the guest speaker.

The WLBQ 1570 AM Listener of the Month for October has been announced and Emmalen Embry is the lucky winner.  Embry chose Green River Feed Mill to spend her $50 local gift certificate.

Candidates react to Mayor Keown's endorsement of current city council members

Morgantown City Hall

In an unprecedented move earlier this week, Morgantown Mayor Linda Keown interjected herself into the race for Morgantown City Council with an official endorsement of all current members who are running for reelection - Edra Dean Hampton, Terrell House, Sharon Johnson, Gary Southerland, and Russell Givens.  The sixth member - Rick Scott isn't seeking reelection.
Now, a few of those candidates who were not endorsed are speaking out.  At least one of those candidates who wasn't endorsed candidates will be elected to the council.
