West Considers Legal Action Over Ouster From Planning & Zoning Committee

Aubrey West, the now-former chairman of the Morgantown Planning and Zoning Committee, is considering  legal action against the city of Morgantown following Mayor Linda Keown's recent decision to remove him from the paid board.

Radio Auction Nets $7,500 for Boys & Girls Club

The annual parade day radio auction to support the Boys and Girls Club of Butler County was yet another success. The event was hosted by Morgantown Bank and Trust through the use of their facility and the airways of Beech Tree 1570 WLBQ.

“We had over 150 items for the auction,” said Phyllis Ray, event organizer.  We want to thank everyone that donated items.”

These and other questions were posed to panelists during the 2011 Festival of trees dinner,  held at the Educational Complex Friday night. The festival of trees is the biggest fund raiser for the Butler County Education Preservation Society according to its President, Geoffrey Henderson.

MPD Ready for Christmas Parade

Police Chief Billy Phelps of the Morgantown Police Department traveled to Louisville this week to bring some individuals back to Morgantown. However instead of the usual sort of passenger Phelps would carry he brought back over 2,000 stuffed animals to give away at Saturday’s Christmas parade.

Said Phelps, “We partner the with Kosaire Charities to get the animals. “We’ve worked with them the last couple of years.”

Mother Dies In Single-Vehicle Accident: Daughter In Hospital

UPDATE:  Glenda Daugherty died during surgery last night at Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville.  Her daughter, was air lifted to Vanderbilt Children's Hospital last night from the Medical Center and is in intensive care.

Fiscal Court Approves Land Purchase

The Butler County Fiscal Court held a special called meeting on Tuesday, November 29, 2011, at 6:00pm at the Butler County Courthouse.  All members of the court were present along with Butler County Attorney Richard Deye and Butler County Sheriff Scottie Ward.
