CAUTION: Bridges Are Slick

Drivers should use caution this morning, bridges are slick.  A two vehicle accident occurred shortly after 8:00 am this morning on Aberdeen Bridge. No injuries were reported, all refused transport.  Butler County EMS, Sheriff's Department, Rescue Squad, Volunteer Firemen responded.  The State Highway Department is salting the bridges.

Butler Bookworms to discuss Orwell's 1984

With a passion for reading, a Morgantown man is hoping to ignite that same passion in others by starting the Butler Bookworms, a local book discussion group. 

Kirk Schmidt, a retired high school teacher with a Ph. D, moved to Morgantown with his family three years ago from New York and has since been actively involved in various community volunteer activities.  He lost his wife to cancer shortly after their move to Morgantown.

Medicaid Clients Notified of Potential HIPAA Breach: No evidence that data was compromised

The Cabinet for Health and Family Services (CHFS) is informing 1,090 Medicaid clients by letter of a computer security breach that may have resulted in the unintentional release of information held by Hewlett-Packard Enterprise Services (HP ES), the vendor that manages Medicaid’s information management system.

Special Called Fiscal Court Meeting

The Butler County Fiscal Court met in special session on Thursday, December 27, 2012.  Johnny Tuck, David Whittinghill, Chad Tyree, Keith Daugherty , Stevie Givens, and Judge David Fields were in attendance. 
The court approved the following motions with a 5-0 vote:
•    Motion was made by Whittinghill and seconded by Tuck authorizing Judge Fields to sign an emergency management executive order effective January 1, 2013.

Operation Scrooge Drug Round-Up

Wednesday morning at 7:00 AM teams of officers from the ATF, Bowling Green Police, Kentucky State Police, Warren County Sheriff’s Department and Western Kentucky University Police set out to arrest 23 individuals. These 23 individuals are charged with 60 various felony drug trafficking crimes.

The aforementioned charges are a result of undercover investigations conducted over a 6-month period by the Bowling Green – Warren County Drug Task Force.

Meth bust on Russellville Road, 14+ grams confiscated: two arrested

What started with the intention of serving an outstanding warrant has resulted in the arrest of two individuals on methamphetamine-related charges.  

Earlier this afternoon, Butler County Sheriff's Chief Deputy Heath West and Deputies Chris Reneer, Joe Alford, Justin Deweese, and Travis McIntosh responded to a residence on 2423 Russellville Road owned by Bobbie Lee Forbes, 52, of Morgantown.

Jones Funeral Chapel announces CT Trust Fund

After the horrific event on Friday December 14, 2012 in Newtown, Connecticut the Jones Family and staff of Jones Funeral Chapel feels compelled to help the families that were affected by this event and will be making a donation to the Connecticut Funeral Directors Association in which they will distribute monies to the funeral homes and families that have been affected. Although we are donating, we are not asking for donations.  We are giving an opportunity for you to give if you feel compelled to do so.
