County Clerks Present $15,000 Check to WKVC

Butler County Clerk Sherry Johnson joins other clerks in presenting the check.

Butler County Clerk Sherry Johnson recently visited the Western Kentucky Veterans Center(WKVC) in Hanson, Kentucky.  County Clerks in the western district collected $15,000 from donations for bird houses made from old license plates. Johnson joined clerks from Trigg , Muhlenberg, and Hopkins County in presenting the check to residents of WKVC.

According to WKVC Administrator LaDonna Scott the money will be used to purchase a blanket warmer, and IN2L computer and a grandfather clock reality orientation board.

BC Sheriff's Office investigates stolen barn wood and accidents.

The Butler County Sheriff’s office has been busy.  Fifty-of feet of barn wood was stolen from Kurt McClelland of 4337 Grancer Road.  Deputy Heath West is the investigating officer.  The wood was taken sometime between November 23 and 26th.  If you have any information concerning this theft contact the sheriff’s office at 270 526-3676.

Butler County Farm Bureau receives 2015 Women’s Gold Star Award of Excellence

Louisville, KY (December 4, 2015) – Recognized for the achievements of its women’s program this year, Butler County Farm Bureau received the 2015 Gold Star Award of Excellence during Kentucky Farm Bureau’s annual meeting in Louisville. The award honors county Women’s Committees for active participation in leadership development programs, agricultural promotion, educational initiatives and numerous other aspects of support to the local Farm Bureau.

Butler County Farm Bureau receives 2015 Young Farmer Gold Star Award of Excellence

Louisville, KY (December 4, 2015) – Recognized for the achievements of its Young Farm Program this year, Butler County Farm Bureau received the 2015 Gold Star Award of Excellence during Kentucky Farm Bureau’s annual meeting in Louisville. The award honors a county’s Young Farmer Committee for its active participation in Farm Bureau leadership development programs, state competitions, and educational or promotional initiatives.

Louisville, KY (December 4, 2015) – Butler County Farm Bureau was recognized during the 96th Kentucky Farm Bureau (KFB) annual meeting in Louisville for its outstanding membership and program achievement in 2015. The award honors county Farm Bureau offices who meet the company’s profitability requirements and whose insurance policy growth meets or exceeds its annual growth goal.

Mid Park Opens New Stamping Plant in Morgantown

 Mid Park, Inc. a leading manufacturer and fabricator of metal products, today announced the opening of their new stamping facility in Morgantown, Kentucky. The new plant will operate under Mid Park's SST division as SST Morgantown.  SSt, which also has production CNC as well as tool and die and threading capabilities, now has stamping capabilities up to 800 tons.  Joel Bernard, SST division president , will oversee the new facility.

Burglary and Accidents

The Butler County Sheriff’s office is investigating a burglary at 3469 Silver City Huntsville Road.  On Sunday, November 29, Deputy Trey Flener responded to a call at the home of Donald Grise.  Four air rifles and a barrel from a double barrel shotgun had been stolen.  The incident was reported at 2:30pm.  The investigation is ongoing, if you have any information concerning this burglary please contact the sheriff’s office at 270 526-3676.
Two separate accidents occurred on Monday, November 30, within an hour of each other on Rochester Road.

Butler County Drug Free Coalition receives $625,000 grant

Vaughn announced the grant at a recent meeting of the BC Drug Free Coalition.

The Butler County Drug Free Coalition (BCDF) has been awarded a federal Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) Drug Free Communities Grant in the amount of $625,000 ($125,000 per year) over a five year period.  The project period runs from September 30, 2015 thru September 29, 2020. 
Project Director, Rhonda Vaughn has set up an office at Butler County Middle School.
