State Senator C.B. Embry speaks on the Senate floor on January 5, 2017, during the first week of the 2017 Regular Session of the Kentucky General Assembly. Sen. Embry will present his Senate Bill 21, a “Right to Try” bill which allows for the use of experimental treatments for terminal illnesses, for discussion in the Senate Health and Welfare Committee. Trooper Brian McKinney has served with the Kentucky State Police for thirteen years. As a trooper, he has been in several different situations but this is the first that involved him being instrumental in keeping the peace during a Presidential Inauguration.  

For the past few years he has been granted the opportunity to escort Don Jenkins, Congressional Medal of Honor recipient, to several events, including the recent inauguration of the 45th President, Donald J. Trump.

“As we sat beside my 5-month-old son’s hospital bed, we begged God for a miracle.  Smith had been fighting 24 hours for his life but, really, he had fought since birth. Smith was born with a rare liver disease called Biliary Atresia. The bile ducts in his liver were not formed correctly. Bile was trapped and quickly caused cirrhosis to his liver,” explains Smith Webster’s mom, Holly from Jefferson County.

Smith was listed in very critical condition.  Machines miraculously kept Smith alive while he waited for his Gift of Life through organ donation, a transplant.

From a school-wide spelling bee to supporting St. Jude's, North Butler Elementary is a busy school.  

Briley Webster won the North Butler Spelling Bee.  Blake Bratcher finished in second place and Brayden Phelps was third place.

North Butler Elementary students Blake Bratcher and Parker Smith will have their artwork featured in The Kentucky Partnership For Farm and Family Health and Safety 2017 Calendar.  The two students, accompanied by parents and Mrs. Susie Dorris (NBES Teacher), were invited to a celebration at the WKU L.D. Brown Ag Expo Center on Friday January 21st to accept prize money and be presented with the calendar while enjoying a tremendous meal.

On Monday, January 23, Butler County Fiscal Court met at the courthouse with all magistrates - Stevie Givens, Johnny Tuck, Chad Tyree, David Whittinghill, and Bobby Moore - in attendance.  

At 8:00 a.m. on Tuesday morning, January 24, while driving in an unmarked cruiser on the William Natcher Parkway, Kentucky State Police Sergeant Chris McKee noticed a black 2012 Lexus SUV driving recklessly behind him at a high rate of speed.  A traffic stop was attempted.  However, the vehicle being driven by the subject fled into the city limits of Morgantown.  Sgt. McKee temporarily lost sight of the vehicle but, with the help of a bystander, was able to locate the automobile at the end of Old River Road in Morgantown.
