Representative Jim DeCesare Files Bill Encouraging Increased School Bus Safety in Kentucky

Resolution filed for 2016 encourages state agencies, school groups to place new emphasis on bus safety in wake of death of 5-year student in Butler County

Representative Jim DeCesare, R-Bowling Green (17th District), announced today he has filed a resolution for the upcoming 2016 Session of the General Assembly to increase school bus safety in Kentucky by encouraging the Kentucky Department of Education and other state agencies and education groups to increase awareness and training in local districts.

2015 Rural Development Annual Meeting

The 58th Butler County Rural Development Annual Meeting was Saturday night, November 7th, at the Eva Hawes Agriculture Exposition Center with about 70 people in attendance.  Each year the four remaining rural development clubs come together to celebrate the year’s accomplishments.  Attendees enjoyed a wonderful meal prepared by the clubs.  Becky and the Butler County Boys played music to entertain the group.  Reedyville, Provo, Big Bend, and Little Muddy communities all still have operating rural development clubs and their presidents provided an update about club activities for the year.

Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary 5837 Veteran of the Year: Tommy Dale Justice

Tommy D Justice was born in 1948 to Thurman and Lucille Justice in Warren County, Kentucky. He graduated from Warren County High School in 1966 and later with an Associate's Degree for Industrial Electricity from Bowling Green Tech.  Tommy retired after 42 years from DESA International, the last ten years he served as Maintenance Supervisor/Manager.
He entered the United States Army in 1968 doing his basic training in Fort Campbell, KY and AIT at Fort Polk, Louisiana. He served in Vietnam from July 1968 to June 1969.

Hylan Grise Recognized as National Driver of the Year

Arlington, Va. – On Wednesday, November 4, American Trucking Associations presented James Hylan Grise of Walmart Transportation in Hopkinsville, Kentucky with the National Driver of the Year Award. The award was presented at the ATA Safety, Security and Human Resources National Conference taking place in Little Rock, Ark.

Republican Matt Bevin defeats Conway

Governor- elect Matt Bevin

Republican Matt Bevin has defeated Democrat Jack Conway to become only the second Republican Kentucky governor in four decades.

Bevin's election gives Republicans control of the executive branch along with a commanding majority in the state Senate. Democrats still have an eight-seat majority in the state House of Representatives.

The Bowling Green Area Chamber of Commerce honored 16 businesses with awards at the annual Targeted Business and Industry Banquet held at the Knicely Center. Bowling Green Metalforming received the top award of the evening, the John B. Holland Business of the Year Award.
