Morgantown IHC: Officers elected, new council members sworn in

The Morgantown Industrial Holding Corporation held a called meeting on Thursday, December 27th at the Eva J. Hawes Community Building.  The IHC is made up of Morgantown City Council members.  Sharon Johnson was elected president, Russell Givens was named Deputy Mayor, and Dustin Embry will serve as secretary for the IHC.

After the meeting Mayor Billy Phelps conducted the swearing in ceremony for the Morgantown City Council. Dionne Cannon Merritt joined returning council members Dustin Embry, Sharon Johnson, Russell Givens, Jason Gaskey, and Sterling White.

Butler County Stockman’s Association Seeking Cattle for 2019 Sale

The Butler County Stockman’s Association Board of Directors invites local cattle producers to consign animals for the 2019 production sale.  Calves must be consigned to the sale by the January 11, 2019 deadline.

BC Students attend model state government event

KSP Conducts Officer Involved Shooting Investigation in Butler County

Morgantown, KY.  (December 20, 2018)—On Thursday morning at 1:55 A.M. (CST),  Kentucky State Police, Post 3 Bowling Green received a call for service to assist the Butler County Sheriff’s Department regarding a report of a domestic dispute, which was occurring on Brownsville Road in the Morgantown community of Butler County.

Judge honored by BRADD; Sheriff's budget rejected then approved on second vote

Butler County Fiscal Court met in regular session on Monday, December 10,  at the Butler County Courthouse with all magistrates in attendance: Stevie Givens, Johnny Tuck, Chad Tyree, David Whittinghill, and Bobby Moore.

Southerland honored; city bus may soon be on the road; business licenses to be free

The Morgantown City Council held its regular monthly meeting on Thursday, December 13th at the Eva J. Hawes Building.  This was the last meeting for Councilmember Gary Southerland who chose not to run for reelection.  Southerland was presented with a framed Morgantown City Flag.  Mayor Billy Phelps thanked him for his service to the city and county.
Dionne Cannon Merritt will be replacing Southerland on the council.  The swearing-in ceremony will be held on December 27th at 5:00 p.m. at the Eva J. Hawes Building.

Kentucky Supreme Court:  Chief Justice John D. Minton, Bill Cunningham, Daniel J. Venters, Lisabeth T. Hughes, Laurance B. VanMeter, Michelle M. Keller, and Samuel T. Wright III.

FRANKFORT - The Kentucky Supreme Court on Thursday unanimously struck down a controversial law that would have reduced retirement benefits for public employees, most notably by ending traditional pensions for school teachers hired after Jan. 1.
