Stratus Plastics’ move to Morgantown one step closer

United Way of Southern KY Announces Over $940,000 in Investments in Local Education,Income, Health and Safety Net Programs

(June 27, 2017) - United Way of Southern Kentucky announced today that it is investing a total of $942,909 in Education, Income, Health, and Safety Net programs and services for its July 1, 2017 to June 30, 2018 funding period. 48 local programs provided through 38 service providers will receive the allocated campaign dollars and donor designations.

FISCAL COURT: Bids revisited, magistrates pass on industrial recruiter, employees get raises

Isaac Myers, Field Representative for the Office of the Governor Department for Local Government from Frankfort, Kentucky.

Butler County Fiscal Court met in regular session on Monday, June 26.  All magistrates were in attendance: 1st District Stevie Givens, 2nd District Johnny Tuck, 3rd District Chad Tyree, 4th District David Whittinghill and 5th District Bobby Moore.

LifeSkills Announces New Board Representative

Pamela Staples was recently appointed to represent Butler County on the Board of Directors of LifeSkills, Inc. 

Pamela has lived in the Butler County area for approximately six (6) years and is currently the County Coordinator for Community Action of Southern Kentucky.  Pamela has served on the Board of Directors for the Housing Authority in Morgantown and as the Vice President of Butler County Middle School PTO.  Pamela is an active member at Salem Baptist Church and has three (3) Sons that are involved in sports, band and other community events.

The Great Race 2017 Comes to Morgantown

1917 Peerless Speedster

Tuesday morning commuters throughout Morgantown were given the opportunity to share the road with participants of the 2017 Great Race as the racers made their way to the next overnight stop in Franklin, Indiana. According to the official website, the race originated in Jacksonville, Florida on June 24 and will finish in Traverse City, Michigan on July 2. The racers had just begun their day of racing after an overnight stay in Bowling Green. The 139 drivers with their accompanying navigator are listed on the website.

Fiscal Court considers marketing partnership, discusses bids & makes appointments to library board

The Butler County Grand Jury returned indictments against 31 individuals on June 13, 2017. Charges include drug trafficking, theft, assault, and robbery. All arraignments are set for July 11, 2017, at 10:00 am.

WLBQ/BTN donates 60 Beech Bend tickets to Boys & Girls Club

The Butler County Boys and Girls Club was full of smiling faces last week as they learned that many of them may soon be going to Beech Bend Park in Bowling Green.  Diane Dyer, representing WLBQ 101.5 FM and Beech Tree News, presented the club with 60 tickets for the park for a day of entertainment and fun in the sun.   

According to Dyer, the station annually receives tickets from the park in order to promote and to give away in the community.
