New Harvest Record Set for Modern Gun Deer Season

FRANKFORT, Ky. (Nov. 30, 2018) — A record 106,797 deer were taken over Kentucky’s 16-day modern gun season that concluded Nov. 25, topping the previous record from 2015 by almost 1,400 deer.

Louisville, KY (December 3, 2018) – Butler County Farm Bureau was recognized during the 99th Kentucky Farm Bureau (KFB) annual meeting in Louisville for its outstanding membership and program achievement in 2018. The award honors county Farm Bureau offices who meet the company’s profitability requirements and whose insurance policy growth meets or exceeds its annual growth goal.

Commercial Horticulture Workshop – December 10th

  A tomato exhibiting “ghost rings” from a fungal disease.  The UK Cooperative Extension Service provides disease diagnostic services for Butler County Vegetable Growers.

The Butler County Extension Service will hold a Commercial Horticulture Workshop on December 10th at 6:00 p.m. at the Butler County Extension Service.  Daniel Becker, UK Extension Horticulture Associate, will be in Butler County to present information on proper fertilization for horticulture crops.  He will also present on the benefits of irrigation and proper irrigation techniques.  Daniel will be bringing several pieces of irrigation equipment to demonstrate as part of the program.  There is no fee to attend this training.

MPD and BCSD join to find drugs and counterfeit bills

Officers with the Morgantown Police Department and Deputies from the Butler County Sheriff’s Office responded to Hines Drive in Morgantown attempting to serve warrants. After contacting the individuals named in the warrants and upon further investigation, drug paraphernalia and counterfeit bill’s were located inside the residence.

WLBQ 101.5 Radio Auction nets over $10,000 for Boys & Girls Club

The Annual Boys & Girls Club’s Radio Auction was held on Saturday in the lobby of Morgantown Bank & Trust.  Bruce White and Tom Jones hit the air waves on WLBQ 101.5 FM at 8:00 am and the phones started ringing.  By the end of the auction, the total raised was over $10,000.

Butler County Extension Service hosts open house

Wednesday afternoon, November 7th, was the open house celebration for the brand new Butler County Extension Service building, located in the former Pamida building.  Dwayne McKinney, Butler County Extension Board Chair, gave the opening remarks to begin the afternoon and to welcome everyone.
Wayne Hatcher, Chairman of the Building Committee, thanked all who had a part in making the building into a usable facility. 

"I am excited about this building", said Hatcher. "We started saving for this building about 15 to 18 years ago."
