Butler County Fiscal Court met in regular session on Monday, February 25th at the Butler County Courthouse.  All magistrates - Stevie Givens, Timmy Givens, Kevin Phelps, David Whittinghill, and Dillon Bryant were in attendance.

The South Central Kentucky Crime Stoppers will again host a special guest for the 2019 Crime Stoppers Eye Opener Breakfast. Lieutenant Joe Kenda, from Investigation Discovery Channel’s “Homicide Hunter,” will be the keynote speaker for this year’s event.

Louisville, KY- February 20, 2019) – The Kentucky Circuit Court Clerks’ Trust For Life and Kentucky Organ Donor Affiliates (KODA) are excited to announce Kentucky Senate Bill 77 passed unanimously in the House Committee for Health and Family Services. This groundbreaking bill will amend KRS 311.1947 to expand organ donor registration to the Commonwealth's single sign-on system and will become effective January 1, 2020.

Morgantown, KY.  (February 22, 2019)—On Thursday evening at approximately 11:30 P.M. (CST),  Kentucky State Police, Post 3 troopers and detectives, along with members of the KSP Critical Incident Response Team were dispatched to Beaver Dam Road near the Aberdeen community of Butler County to investigate an officer involved shooting.  The shooting incident had taken place near 1941 Beaver Dam Road, and involved a Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources Conservation Officer.  Officer Jonathan Barks had attempted to establish contact with Joseph P.

The Butler County Grand Jury returned indictments against 40 individuals on February 15, 2019. Charges include attempted murder, drug trafficking, burglary, and possession of methamphetamine.

The First Annual Community Prayer Breakfast was held Friday, February 15, at the Eva J.

Butler County Fiscal Court will once again be participating in the $100 Mile Litter Pickup program. This is for non-profit organizations only. Organizations may complete a LITTER ABATEMENT REGISTRATION FORM during the week of March 4th to March 8th only. You may complete a registration &  w-9 (if you are new) form during the business hours of 8:00 am & 4:00 pm.   PLEASE HAVE ONLY ONE PERSON PER GROUP, STOP BY THE OCCUPATIONAL TAX OFFICE AND COMPLETE A CONTACT FORM. Roads will be issued in April. Clean up will be on State and County roads.

The Morgantown City Council met in regular session at the Eva J. Hawes Building on February 14th.  Council members Dustin Embry, Dionne Merritt, Russell Givens, Jason Gaskey, and Sterling White were in attendance.  

As spring approaches so does the application process for many academic scholarship opportunities for Butler County High School students. Last year over $1.4 million was awarded to dozens of local students.
