Warren RECC Scholarship Applications Now Available

April 15, 2019 (Bowling Green, Ky) Applications for the 2019 Warren RECC Scholarship are now available. Warren RECC will award up to seven $1,500 scholarships to high school seniors and non-traditional students pursuing post-secondary training at an accredited degree-granting institution. 

Warren RECC was created in 1938 by members of the local community and we are proudly still locally owned and operated. We are pleased to support our students and their educational pursuits as part of our commitment to the communities we serve.

Natalie Suoy Recognized as DAR Good Citizen

The Butler County Chapter NSDAR is recognizing Senior Natalie Suoy as the BCHS Class of 2018-19 Good Citizen. This award is presented to a high school senior who possesses the qualities of dependability, service, leadership and patriotism. Natalie is the daughter of Jennifer and John Suoy of Morgantown.

In high school Natalie has participated in various programs the school offers including: NJROTC where she has served as Public Affairs Officer, Operations Officer and also Drill Team Commander: FBLA where she served as Chapter Parliamentarian; TSA and other groups.

Former Crossmen Members Reunite With New Vocal Group

A new southern gospel quartet has formed in south central Kentucky with some familiar faces, and while familiarity is plentiful with their music, it's a new look and sound for the four men that make "United."

All former members of the now retired Crossmen, the guys had plenty of ups and downs and mixed emotion on their journeys from The Crossmen to today, but their love for sharing gospel music and their close friendships drew them all back to where their shared roots began.

Kentucky School Board Insurance Trust (KSBIT) Members to Receive $5 Million Disbursement

An additional $5 million is in the process of being disbursed to Kentucky school systems and colleges that were assessed in 2014 to rehabilitate the Kentucky School Boards Insurance Trust (KSBIT).  This is the result, in part, of a lawsuit and settlement handled by English, Lucas, Priest & Owsley attorneys, Michael Owsley and Sarah Jarboe, both of whom are partners in the firm. They worked with attorneys from the Kentucky Department of Insurance (DOI) and Public Protection Cabinet to achieve this outcome.

The Morgantown Police received a tip about a suspicious silver truck with suspicious items in the bed of the truck at Sonic. Morgantown City Police conducted a routine traffic stop on Jenkins Blvd.

KSP makes major methamphetamine bust on WK Parkway, drugs headed to Butler County

Kentucky State Police arrested two suspects after finding a large amount of methamphetamine enroute to Butler County.

According to Grayson County K105, Tuesday morning at approximately 1:45, Trooper Jakob Clemons initiated a traffic stop on the WK Parkway on a 1999 Nissan Maxima, being driven by 33-year-old Joseph D. Himes, of Hartford, because the vehicle’s rear license plate was not illuminated.

Kentucky House Republican Caucus

FRANKFORT, April 8, 2019 – Rep. Steve Sheldon, R-Bowling Green, on the House Floor on March 13, discussing SB 50, which would require the reporting of dispensing a prescription for RU-486, or similar drugs that are intended to end a pregnancy, to the Vital Statistics Branch. SB 50 would also require abortion pill reversal information to be provided to patients at the time the prescription is dispensed so that patients can be informed of all of their options.

Comer Meets With Kentucky Association Of Funeral Directors

WASHINGTON – On Thursday, April 4th, Congressman James Comer met with the Kentucky Association of Funeral Directors in his Washington Office. The meeting included Gerald "Marty" Jones II of Morgantown, KY. The group discussed the Burial Rights for America’s Veterans’ Efforts Act of 2019 and more with Congressman Comer.

Kathy Hampton Appointed as Advisor to FSA County Committee

On March 14, 2019, during the Administrative Division’s portion of the State Committee meeting in Lexington, the STC approved Kathy Hampton to serve as an advisor to the Butler County Farm Service Agency County Committee.  She will be working along with the current Committee which is comprised of Patrick Daugherty, Greg Drake, and Kevin McKinney.
