"These scholarships are local, with the exception of the KFRW," said Tammy Dotson, registrar at the high school.  "The scholarship checks are written to the student for expenses such as books, tuition, etc."

According to BCHS Guidance Counselor Hanna Southerland, these scholarships should apply to any post-secondary education, whether it be a four year university, community college or technical school.

"The scholarships listed are our local scholarships, given by various organizations throughout Butler County.  We are so lucky and feel so grateful to have a community that cares about our kids and wants to help them realize their dreams," said Southerland.  "We suggest that students fill out any scholarship they can.  There have been times when we have tracked students down and asked them to fill out a scholarship because no one had applied.  Even the 'small' scholarships help.  Those $100, $300, and $500 scholarships add up."

Any other organizations that would like to sponsor a scholarship, please contact Hanna Southerland, Sherlyn Bratcher, or Tammy Dotson at Butler County High School.
