Radio Auction nets $13,637 for Boys & Girls Club

The Boys & Girls Club of Butler County, Morgantown Bank & Trust, and WLBQ 101.5 teamed up for the 24th year for the Annual Radio Auction on Saturday morning.

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the auction was moved to the Boys & Girls Club on South Tyler Street, but the results were the same as in previous years as $13,637 was raised.

For Kelsey Lee of Morgantown, locking in quality child care was such a priority that she put her name on a top local provider’s waiting list while she was pregnant. More than five years later, she said that decision has helped her son be more than ready to thrive in kindergarten next year and in the school years ahead.

“He knows how to write his first and last name, and he can recognize every letter,” Lee said of her son, Walker. “He knows what letter everybody’s name in the family starts with — I can put down a letter and he knows who it goes with.”

Friends of Butler County Animals sign contract to operate county’s animal shelter

On November 1, Friends of Butler County Animals signed a contract with the Butler County Fiscal Court to run the county-owned animal shelter.  Ruby Fooks will keep her position as executive director and is president of the Friends of Butler County Animals Board.

FISCAL COURT: Part-time dispatcher hired, full-time postion to be advertised; magistrates mull sheriff's budget

Over the last 5 years, Rachel, her husband Jon, her daughter Caroline and her daughter Ellie,  once she came along, have made an effort to give to Toys for Tots.
