Clay Embry, a standout senior running back and wideout for the Butler County High School Bears, has signed his national letter-of-intent to play his college football at Campbellsville University. Embry helped lead the Bears to an 8-4 record in 2011.

The Butler County Lady Bears opened a busy week of games on the road Monday night in Russellville. The Lady Panthers of Russellville High School hosted the Lady Bears who finished their district games last week and play out of the district for the rest of the season.

The Lady Bears traveled to Bowling Green on Tuesday night to take on the powerful squad from Bowling Green High School. BG came into the game at 19-3 and owned an average margin of victory of well over 20 points.

The Bears took the road, a long winding one at that, to Hart County on Tuesday night to face off against the 11 – 11 Raiders. With an unusual game time start of 5:30, the Bears had to head out early for what turned out to be a long night for them.

The final regular season district games for the BCHS basketball teams were Friday night in Morgantown. The Wildcats and Lady Cats from Edmonson County rode into town to face the Bears and Lady Bears from BCHS.

Although the battle on the hardwood is over, the Butler County Bears and the Ohio County Eagles are still battling it out online. The recent Bears vs. Eagles basketball match-up was featured by Bluegrass Cellular as one of their Battles in the Bluegrass.

Butler County native Dean Jenkins has signed a letter of intent to continue his football career as a Blue Raider at Lindsey Wilson College in Columbia. Jenkins, currently a senior at Edmonson County High School, played running back and defensive back for the Wildcats this season.

The Lady Patriots of Allen County-Scottsville High School were in Morgantown on Tuesday night to take on the BCHS Lady Bears. The Patriots came into town with a 13-9 record for the first of two games with BCHS this season.

After some tough outings it was time for the Bears and Lady Bears of Butler County to get back to the business of winning Monday night. Their opponents were the Raiders and Lady Raiders of tiny Trinity High School in Whitesville.
