What is Prediabetes?

                Did you know that the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) estimates that more than 1 in every 3 American adults has prediabetes? The CDC also estimates about 90% of adults with prediabetes don’t know they have it. Let’s take a moment to set the record straight on prediabetes.

I’ve remembered hearing “Get Off’a My Cloud” by The Rolling Stones.  What I didn’t know, however, is that The Stones were not the first to release that song.  It was written by Mick and Keith-that’s Jagger and Richards for the uninitiated.

This week, I was looking through the last four months of Better Homes & Gardens magazines before recycling them. I noticed quite a bit of health, food and finance information in each. Some of the interesting take-away information is listed below. 

Health

•People who spend a minimum of two hours outdoors every week are in better shape – physically and mentally – than those who don’t.

Whatever plans you may have for November 5, I hope they include a visit to your polling place to cast your ballot in this year’s election. Every election is important, but this one is particularly critical as we will be voting for our Governor and Lieutenant Governor, Attorney General, Secretary of State, Auditor of Public Accounts, Treasurer and Commissioner of Agriculture.

Garey and I will be married 44 years on November 28^th of this year.  Now, wouldn’t you think we would know all there is to know about each other after 44 years? 

Every once in awhile, I get a phone message where the person on the other end leaves a message and then says, “Don’t call me back” or words similar to this. When someone leaves a message like this, I always wonder why someone spent the time and energy to call and leave a message if he doesn’t intend to hear what I have to say in response to the question or complaint. The truth is, this person doesn’t want a reply. He wants only to “vent” his thoughts without response.

DON'T Judge ME- If you have lived very long upon this earth at all you have heard someone use the phrase, “Don't judge me” at some point, haven't you? Most of us have heard the phrase multiple times, probably the majority of us have even said it or at least thought it, in relationship to our own particular indiscretions, leanings, perceptions, habits or inclinations. We do not want others to condemn us, or think harshly of us, based on how they personally filter and interpret the world and apply it toward their own interactions with others.
