Effie Christie

Effie Sorrels Christie, 86, of  Morgantown, Ky., passed away Wednesday, April 22, 2015 at the Mogantown Care and Rehab Center in Morgantown, Ky. She was born in Christian County on July 17, 1928  to the late Ora and Sadie Latham.  Mrs. Christie was a homemaker, loved flowers and was of the Baptist faith.  She was preceded in death by her parents, first husband Willie Sorrels, second husband Jack Christie, seven brothers and sisters.


Jerry L. Embry

Jerry L. Embry, 68, of  Morgantown, Ky., passed away Tuesday, April 21, 2015 at his residence.  He was born in Tanyard, Ky. on January 15, 1947 to the late John William and Essie Coats Embry.  Mr. Embry was retired from Life Skills.  He was a baptized member of the Worldwide Church of God and attended Hope in Messiah Congregation for the last several years.  Mr. Embry served in the United States Army from 1966 to 1968, he was  an avid reader, writer and loved his cats.  He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Laymon D.


Layverne C. Drake

Layverne C. Drake, 81, of Beaver Dam, passed away Sunday, April 19, 2015. He was born October 29, 1933 in Ohio County to the late James Oscar and Vera M. Drake. He was a United States Army Veteran and was avid University of Kentucky Basketball fan. Layverne was a member of Beaver Dam Baptist Church and he worked as a contractor.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Janice F. Drake and two brothers, Sharrell R. Drake and Thurman D. Drake.


Tilman R. Cardwell

Tilman R. Cardwell, 64, of  Leitchfield, Ky., passed away Friday, April 17, 2015 at the Medical Center in Bowling Green.  He was born in Morgantown, Ky. on January 24, 1951  to the late Chester and Fanny Brooks Cardwell.  Mr. Cardwell worked in construction as a drywall contractor.  He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Leitchfield.  He loved fishing, gardening, building birdhouses and being outdoors.  He enjoyed playing with his dog and his grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents and one son Gregory Dewayne Cardwell.


Robert "Jim" Goodley

Robert "Jim" Goodley, 73 of Owensboro,Kentucky,and Morgantown, Kentucky, passed away Thursday April 16,2015 at the Morgantown Care and Rehab Center in Morgantown,Ky. Jim was born October 23,1941 in Henderson, Kentucky to the late Robert Oliver Goodley Sr. and Mamie Hall Goodley Watson. He was a carpenter for Thompson Homes for 40 years, member of Aberdeen Missionary Baptist Church and a United States Marine veteran. Jim is preceded in death by his parents ,step father James Watson, one brother Gary Goodley and a sister, Imogene Priest.


Ransom Victor Gibbs

Ransom Victor Gibbs of Morgantown, Kentucky, passed from this life into the presence of Jesus at his home on Monday, April 13, 2015 at the age of 92.  Born on May 21, 1922 in Arnold, Nebraska to the late Ralph Irving Gibbs and Pearl (Bakewell) Gibbs, he spent his boyhood on the family farm near Stapleton, Nebraska, the youngest of six siblings.  While attending Bible School in Colorado Springs, Colorado, he was drafted into the army and honorably served in the Pacific theater as a Technician, Fifth Grade and as the chaplain's assistant during World War II on the islands of New Guinea and th


Stefanie E. Coots

Stefanie E. Coots, 84, of Bowling Green, entered into rest April 12, 2015, at her residence.
She was born June 21, 1930 in Eichenau Kresis Kattowitz, Poland to the late Zimmerhauer Franz Oszek and Hilaria Manka Oszek.  She is also preceded in death by her husband Earl C. Coots.


Gary Eldon Slaubaugh

Gary Eldon Slaubaugh, age 70, of Cape Girardeau, passed away Saturday, April 4, 2015 at his home.

He was born August 9, 1944, in Washington, Indiana, son of Benjamin C. and Beatrice Norris Slaubaugh. He and Janice Rix were married June 3, 1994 in St. Lucia in the British West Indies.


Timothy Scott Carter

Timothy Scott Carter age 50 of Morgantown Ky., passed away Friday April 10,2015 at the Morgantown Care and Rehab. Timothy was born on February 12,1965 in Indianapolis,Indiana to the late Donald Ray Carter Sr. and JoAnn Keown Carter who survives.
