Chester Eugene Lee

Chester Eugene Lee, formerly of Butler County, died in Tallahassee, Florida on Tuesday, January 3, 2012 after a lengthy illness.  His ashes were interred at Sandy Creek Cemetery along with his mother Dixie Lee Wilson, who had died in Tallahassee, Florida on January 28, 2007.

Helen Embry, 90 of Morgantown, passed away Saturday, July 14, 2012, at her daughter's residence. Helen was born October 19, 1921, in Butler County Kentucky to the late Wesley and Ordry Embry Tomes and wife of the late Hesbie Embry. She was a member of Christian Home Church of Christ and a homemaker. She was preceded in death by one daughter Judy Longhenry; one son Jerry Embry; 4 sisters Jacquline Tomes, Francis Tomes, Dorothy Embry, and Phyllis Key and 2 brothers James and Thorston Tomes.

Alvie E. Lee

Alvie E Lee, age 80, of Leitchfield, KY, passed away Saturday, (July 14, 2012) at the Twin Lakes Regional Medical Center in Leitchfield, Kentucky.

He was born on September 1, 1931, in Butler Co., Kentucky, the son of the late Christopher C and Bessie Pearl Phelps Lee.

He was an owner and operator of Lee’s Motel, a real estate broker and auctioneer, was a Korean War Army Veteran and was a member of the Mill Street Church of Christ.

Leonard Thomas "Tom" Porter

Leonard Thomas "Tom" Porter, 86 of Morgantown, Kentucky, entered into rest Monday, July 9, 2012, at the Morgantown Care and Rehab Center in Morgantown, Kentucky. Tom was born July 29, 1925, in Eden, Kentucky to the late Clark Thomas and Mable Johnson Porter. He joined the Navy and proudly served his country during World War II aboard the USS Pasadena (CL- 65). Tom was present for the formal surrender of the Japanese in Tokyo Bay on September 2, 1945. After returning from the war, Tom went to work in his father's blacksmith shop. He married Dorothy Embry on May 3, 1951.

Golda House

Golda Cannon House, 92  of Morgantown, passed away on Saturday, July 7, 2012, at the Medical Center in Bowling Green.  Ms. House was born June 8, 1920, in Butler County to the late Vernie Cannon and Emma Johnson Cannon.  She was the wife of the late L.D. House.  Golda worked at the Flener Hotel and was a homemaker.   Golda was of the Baptist Faith. She was preceded in death by sons, George Henry Milam, Clarance Edward Milam and Howard Wayne Milam.  Grandsons; Vernon Milam, Jr. and Matthew Beasley. Granddaughter Patricia Milam. Step- children Dannie and James House.

Bro. Joseph Henry Bunch

Bro. Joseph Henry Bunch, 91  of Morgantown passed away on Friday, July 6, 2012 at the Morgantown Care & Rehab Center in Morgantown. Mr. Bunch was born October 23, 1920 in Butler County to the late David Hugh and Lilly Pierce Bunch and was the husband of the late Ella Holman Bunch. He was a graduate of Rochester High School,  attended Campbellsville College and was a graduate of Georgetown University Class of 1956. He was a school teacher at Rochester, Third District, Morgantown Elementary and the Green River Boys Camp. Mr.

Vivan Brooks, age 88, of Welches Creek, Kentucky passed away Friday, July 6, 2012 at the Morgantown Care & Rehab.

She was born on August 29, 1923, the daughter of the late Simon R & Martha Henderson Dockery. She was retired from Morgantown Care & Rehab and also a member of Chapel Union Missionary Baptist Church.

Glenda Rife

Glenda Charlene Rife, 50, of Bowling Green, KY passed away Friday, July 6, 2012 at the Commonwealth Regional Speciality Hospital in Bowling Green.

Mrs. Rife was born April 12, 1962 in Warren County, KY to the late Mitchel and Magdalene Sweatt Sweatt. She was a member of New Zion Missionary Baptist Church and 1980 Graduate of Butler County High School. Rife was preceded in death by one brother, Wendell Sweatt.

Earl Park

Earl Glen Park, 87, of Hartford, Kentucky passed away on Thursday, July 5, 2012 at his residence. He was born in Ohio County on June 20, 1925 to the late Rosel C. Park and Marie Thomas Park. Mr. Park graduated from Livermore High School in 1943, was a U.S. Army veteran having served in the Korean War, and retired from Glenmore Distilleries in Owensboro.

Annetta Kitchens Kessinger, 84 of Morgantown, passed away Tuesday, July 3, 2012 at the Medical Center in Bowling Green, Ky. Mrs. Kessinger was born October 11, 1927 in Butler County, Ky. to the late Frank and Daisy Dean Orange Kitchens and wife of the late Oscar Allen Kessinger. She was a homemaker and attended New Liberty Missionary Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by 2 brothers Tom Kitchens and Dwight Kitchens and 3 sisters Dixie Humphrey, Captola Sublett and Edna Earl Burden.
