Marvin Antonio Avelar, known affectionately as Marvin to his friends and family, passed away on Saturday, June 21, 2025, at the age of 48, at his residence Morgantown, Kentucky. Born on Wednesday, June 15, 1977, in El Salvador, Marvin brought light and joy into the lives of all who knew him.

Rickey Lee Flener

Rickey Lee Flener, age 74, of Morgantown, Kentucky, passed away at his residence on June 21, 2025.

Rickey was born on July 29, 1950 in Morgantown, Kentucky to Earl and Dorothy Coots Flener. He grew up in Morgantown surrounded by a large family of aunts, uncles, and cousins, went on to trade school, and received his certification in auto and diesel mechanics.  He worked 15 years for Tichenor’s Chevy in Hartford, Kentucky, and also laid flooring, as an independent contractor, along with his Uncle John Coots, for Cooper’s Carpet for 30+ years.

Gary Alvin Phelps Sr.

Gary Alvin Phelps Sr. passed away peacefully on June 19th, 2025. Gary was born on March 19th, 1951 in Louisville, Kentucky. Gary was a member of Cool Springs General Baptist Church and Reedyville Masonic Lodge #438.  He was known for his love of fishing, hunting, and riding motorcycles. He enjoyed traveling throughout his life, telling stories, and was happiest when surrounded by loved ones.  Gary was a proud veteran and entered the US Army in May 1968 and was deployed to Vietnam in 1970 as a Special Operations Detachment.

Joe Robert Phelps

Joe Robert Phelps, age 78, of Morgantown, KY, passed away on Friday, June 13, 2025, at Owensboro Health Twin Lakes Medical Center.  He was born in Warren Co., KY on Feb. 7, 1947.  He was a Veteran of the United States Marines and United States Army during the Vietnam War. He enjoyed woodworking.  Joe was preceded in death by his parents Willard and Ruby King Phelps; two sisters Lillian and Laverne.

Michael Lloyd West, age 69, of Bowling Green, KY, formerly of Morgantown, KY passed away on Friday, June 13, 2025, at Hospice of Southern Kentucky.  He was born in Warren Co., KY on May 25, 1956.  He was previously a truckdriver and a member of First United Methodist Church.  He was an avid gardener and loved attending car shows.  One of his greatest joys was proudly serving his community by fulfilling the role of Santa Claus during the holiday season.  He had the beard, belly and, most importantly, the heart for the job.  Michael was preceded in death by his parents William Lloyd and Nina

Vernita Rose Lee Ingram

Vernita Rose Lee Ingram, age 96, of Morgantown, KY passed away on Monday, June 2, 2025 at the Beaver Dam Nursing and Rehab.  She was born in the Flatwoods Community of Butler Co., KY on September 19, 1928 to Roscoe and Rosa Woosley Lee.  Vernita was always busy. She enjoyed working outside in her garden, canning, working puzzles and doing needle work. She was a wonderful cook and studied her bible daily. She was the greatest granny to her grandchildren and grand dogs (Larry & Ace).  She cherished her friends and neighbors, wanting everyone to feel welcome in her home.
