When I was first introduced to Butler County native and internationally known actor Andy Stahl by a mutual friend I wasn’t sure what to expect, after all, I had never met a real actor before. Turned out that he didn’t have painted lips, wasn’t wearing make-up, and when he stood up he also wasn’t bigger than life. 

Lynda O'Driscoll, Chapter Regent for the Butler County Daughters of the American Revolution, welcomed everyone to the Veterans Breakfast.  This breakfast was held at the Butler County High School Saturday, November 6 to honor the four Veterans of the Year for 2021.

Darlene Scott presented two Quilts of Honor to the Kitchen twins, Boyce and Royce, who joined the Army together in 1950.  They are natives of Butler County, born in 1928 to Ustes and Gusta Kitchens.

On Friday, November 5, 2021 members of the General Richard Butler chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution presented a certificate to Patty Glass on behalf of her late husband Lowell "Whitey" Glass  recognizing them for their correct display of the American flag.

The 31st Annual Calendar Girl was held Saturday night, November 6, at the Butler County High School Gymnasium.  This event is the major fundraiser for the Butler County FCCLA.  This years Covergirl is Miss. Kennedy Rice.  She is the daughter of Stephen and Stacy Rice of Logansport.  

The following young ladies were selected for monthly spots on the 2022 calendar.

Rovie L. Alford was born November 16, 1935, and raised on Oak Ridge Road Neafus, Kentucky.

Alford joined the Air Force in April 1954 at the age of 18 and was discharged in April 1958.

He had basic training at Sampson Air Force on the Seneca Lake in New York.

He then attended Aircraft Maintenance school at Sheppard Air Force base near Wichita Falls, Texas. 

What are the dangers of smoking while pregnant?  Smoking while pregnant can cause serious problems.  Babies can be born prematurely (smoking slows your baby’s growth), can have  birth defects such as cleft lip or cleft palate, or even die from sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS).  Even just as important, babies who are exposed to cigarette smoke after birth (secondhand smoke) have a higher risk for SIDS as well.

The Green River Chapter National Society Daughters of the American Revolution proudly honors Ray Rulo Chapman as the 2021 Veteran of the Year.

Ray was born in Alpine, Tennessee, September 29, 1985, into a family of veterans who proudly served their country. His family moved to KoKomo, Indiana where his father found work and that is where Ray was raised.  They still own the farm in Tennessee where the family vacations.
