What is nicotine and is it really in e-cigarettes?

Nicotine is a highly addictive substance and yes, it is found in e-cigarettes.  According to the CDC, approximately 2/3 of JUUL users aged 15-24 do not know that JUUL contains nicotine.  A single JUUL pod contains as much nicotine as a pack of twenty cigarettes.

What can I do to prevent my child from using e-cigarettes or help them to stop? 

1. Set a good example by being tobacco-free.

2. Talk to your child about why e-cigarettes are harmful for them.  It is never too early or too late to have the conversation. 

3. Set up an appointment with your child's health care provider to discuss the negative consequences of using e-cigarettes. 

4. Encourage your child to learn the facts about e-cigarettes.
