Little Muddy Rural Development Club Meeting

The Little Muddy RD Club met June 11th, 2012 at 6:00 p.m.  There were 33 people present.  The meeting began with the pledge to the American flag.  Wayne Hatcher gave the blessing for the meal. After the meal, the regular business meeting was postponed and the program was turned over to program leader Gabe Keen. He informed club members as announced last month that the club was hosting the Butler County Fiscal Court meeting. Members enjoyed hearing about the County business and participating in the meeting. The next Little Muddy RD meeting will be held on Monday, July 16th at 6:30 p.m.

GRCF: Catfish Cook-Off

The annual Catfish Cook-off was held on Saturday at the Catfish Festival.  This event is sponsored every year by the office of Dr. Todd Cohron, OD.  This particular event turned out to be a hot one, but six groups turned out to participate and take their chances at appealing to the judges with their culinary skills.

Eyes For Detail- 2012 Jr. Livestock Show

With one eye on their animal and the other on the judge, participants placed their preparation on display Thursday night. The event was the 2012 Butler County Jr. Livestock Show, a part of the Catfish Festival, held at the Eva J. Hawes community building. The show was open to youth 9-19 who are enrolled in the 4H or FFA market lamb, beef or goat project.

FFA advisor and agriculture teacher, Lee Ann Daugherty, served as announcer while Darrin Benton performed judging duties. Entries from as far away as Cadiz, Ky took part. The photos shown here are but a sample.

GRCF: Beauty Pageants (0-23 month olds)

The final pageant of the Green River Catfish Festival took place on Saturday morning at the Butler County High School.  Boys and girls age 0-23 month old, with parents in tow, paraded the stage.

6th Annual Southern Kentucky Star Search

3rd Place Sonya King, 2nd Place Dustin Collins, and Winner Brenda Maxie

The 6th Annual Southern Kentucky Star Search, sponsored by Morgantown Bank & Trust and Sam 100.7 FM, was held last night at the Green River Catfish Festival. Ten finalists performed for the crowd and judges on the basketball court for their chance to be crowned the winner. After all of the finalists performed two songs, Brenda Maxie took home first prize. She received a trophy and $250 after her soulful renditions of "At Last" by Etta James and "Mercy" by Duffy. Dustin Collins placed second and Sonya King took third in the competition.

Evans - Lindsey to wed

Jewel Morgan and Jerald Morgan of Morgantown would like to announce the engagement of their daughter, Melinda Morgan Evans, to Nicholas Blanton Lindsey, son of Patti Dillard of Bowling Green and Dale Lindsey of San Diego, CA.

Melinda is a graduate of Butler County High School at works at Corvac. Nicholas is a graduate of Warren Central High School and works at Diacel.

Butler County Chapter NSDAR Prepares for Genealogy Workshop

On Saturday, July 28 Butler County Chapter NSDAR will hold a Genealogy Workshop at the Butler County Public library meeting room from 10:00-? After the morning session there will be a break for lunch at which time Butler County Chapter ladies will provide bag lunches for $2.00 dessert included. All those interested in learning pointers on tracing your roots whether it is to trace back to a patriot in the Revolutionary War to join the Butler County Chapter NSDAR or because the television show “Who do you think you are”? has you pondering that very question and now wondering were do I start?
