Richland Baptist Church - Old Fashion Day

Bro. Jim & Linda McDaniel

Sunday, June 24th was Old Fashion Day at Richland Baptist Church.  Several ladies attended in their long dresses and bonnets while the gentlemen wore their best pair of over-alls.  After morning services we enjoyed a meal which included many wonderful dishes prepared by the great cooks at Richland Church!  It was a great day of praise, worship, fellowship and food.  Come on out and join us – never know what we will plan next!

Planning for Retirement

Tracy M. Thornton, County Extension Agent for Family & Consumer Sciences

Retirement planning is important for all individuals; however, it is especially important for women.  At some point during their lives, 80 to 90 percent of women will be solely responsible for their own finances.  Unfortunately for the majority of them, it will be later in life.  Women tend to have shorter work histories than men, as a result of entering and leaving the workforce due to raising children.  In addition, fewer women participate in employer-sponsored retirement plans compared to men.

Boys & Girls Club hosts Hawaiian Luau

The children at the Boys & Girls Club of Butler County held a special Hawaiian Luau this afternoon to mark the end of their Hawaiian unit of study. Club Director Debra Hall explained that children at the club learn about a different theme each week and this week they learned about Hawaiian Luaus. Students learned about luaus this week in addition to making flowers, instruments, and learning a dance to go along with the theme. She said that the luau provided the club with a fun way to invite members of the community out to the club to see what is happening there.

Scenic Route Photography

Oh the beauty of the colors of God!!! An early morning drive always pays off, but this morning, was one of the most beautiful in awhile. This sunrise (complements of God) was one of the most beautiful I've experienced for a while. The Scenic Route of life is just so incredibly gorgeous if we'll just let ourselves experience it. Moments like these, are one of the reasons I changed my company name from Lazi Daze to Scenic Route. The name definitely fits what I love . . . taking the back roads along the scenic route.
