Poinsettias are a Holiday Staple

Poinsettias are synonymous with the holiday season. Their bright red, pink or white leaves are beautiful as standalone plants or as components of bigger holiday displays. It may surprise many to know that in their native climate, this subtropical plant can grow to lofty heights of more than 10 feet. In the United States, poinsettias are grown as indoor potted plants, most in heated greenhouses.

Thank You from the Howard Drake Family

Words fail to express our deep gratitude for all the kindness shown to our family during the illness and death of my brother Wilbur Drake.  Every need was met with love and affection.  We thank the medical staff who attended Wilbur, Jones Funeral Chapel, our churches and the great host of friends who came, sent food, flowers, Gideon Bibles, and made contributions to Bethel and First Baptist in memory of Wilbur.  These kindnesses did not go unnoticed.  God Bless You.

John W. Martin: Butler County's First Known KY State Senator

Kentucky State Senator John W. Martin

By all accounts, Woody Martin’s great-grandfather was a good man to have on your side. That became evident as Woody and his wife Sandra began to lay out a collection of published stories about John William Martin recently at their Morgantown home.
