Richland Baptist Church - 3rd Annual Appreciation Meal for those that serve Butler County (Ambulance, Fire, Police, etc.)  will be held on Friday, November 14, 2014.  Please join us at the new EMS Building on Rochester Rd between 5 – 7 pm.  Chili, sandwiches, chips, dessert and drinks will be served.

In what has become an annual Veteran’s Day tradition, members of the BCHS Naval Jr ROTC saluted veterans in a unique way on Friday.

Beginning at 6:15 a.m. cadets ran laps around the courthouse carrying the American Flag. The cadets alternated doing laps to keep the flag running around the courthouse until 10:15 on Friday night. Cadets had to deal with sun and heat throughout the day, then battled cold temperatures after the sun went down.

Saturday November 8th saw the annual Morgantown Veteran's Day Parade. The parade began and ended at Morgantown Elementary School. The parade began at 2PM following the Butler County Chapter NSDAR annual Veterans Day breakfast. The parade featured vehicles and tow alongs that were representative of many local organizations and businesses. 

The idea in a ntshell is to pack a shoe box with school supplies, coloring books, pencils, flip-flops, toothbrushes, washcloths, cars, yo-yo, Slinkys, puppets, doll, teddybears, and hard candy.  Christian literature in native language or dialect will be added as boxes are shipped.  Every shoebox is a gospel opporunity.

The 24th Annual Calendar Girl/Centerfold Guy Contest will be held on Saturday, November 15 at 7:00 p.m. in the Butler County High School gym. over 50 girls and guys will compete for 14 spots. Entry is $5; preschool children and younger get in free. Calendar Girl is presented by the Butler County High School FCCLA.

There will be a fundraiser on November 15th at Second District Fire Department to help with his Hospital Bills.

Doors will open at 10:00 am.

Any donations you can give will be greatly appreciated as well as baked goods.

There will be a soup and sandwich dinner beginning at 11:00 am until ??

Donations will be auctioned off beginning at 3:00 pm.

For more than 30 years, Kentucky farmers have supported the beef industry through a per-head checkoff program. When it began in 1976, the checkoff was 10 cents per head. The passage of the 1985 Farm Bill replaced with state program with a Federal Beef Checkoff program of $1 per head when a beef animal is sold during its lifetime. Half of the money comes back to Kentucky to support state beef promotion through the Kentucky Beef Council.

Carlton sits on the seat of the gun he manned in the pacific during WWII. Picture taken at the Naval Museum, Pensacola Florida in February of 2013. Carlton would have been 93 on November 23. He passed away May 24, 2014. Lennie Drake, his wife of 72 years resides in Morgantown.

The All-State choir competition was held November 3. Eight students made all state choir. Congratulations to those under the direction of Mr. Travis Lowe:
